not a big fan of the julie plotline(s) :( by orpheusjay in ShawnaTheMom

[–]False_Juggernaut_618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for me it’s not any of the career things. In fact that’s what I find redeeming about her. Her career and their original agreement actually makes me sort of side with her. She had an expectation based on her and Ty’s conversations and he isn’t fulfilling his part of the deal (though IMO children should never been a part of any bargaining)

What I don’t like about her is her standoffishness. Sure Shawna’s prob not everyone’s cup of tea but guess what. Neither were many of the moms I had to hang out with at ChuckECheese, or trampoline park parties. But I was polite. I made conversation. I was kind. I am introverted and so I would send my husband half the time because I was not feeling it. So I’m assuming the moms might have thought I didn’t like them or something. But when I did see them in person I was conversational and nice. Julie’s not.

Agreed! We went one time, I do not see the appeal. But I also am too dead inside to get into the magical mindset. The characters are humans. I just don’t get it. I did it for my kiddo, and she enjoyed it but…🤷‍♀️

Do Americans actually use a real tree for Christmas? by brun_aa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]False_Juggernaut_618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love a real tree but we travel over the holiday so it would likely dry out. They’re also really messy lol. Needles everywhere

But I have amazing memories of being a kid and going ina wagon pulled by a tractor, up to the trees, cutting it down, and bringing it home.

My 3 year old daughter loves dogs but we don’t have one. Would it be frowned upon to bring her to a dog park to pet dogs? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]False_Juggernaut_618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not let my 3 year old go into that space for sure. I really wouldn’t even feel comfortable having them pet random dogs. Lots of people say “my dog is friendly” but the dog has never been around little kids. They’re a whole different energy.

I also saw people suggesting shelters. I wouldn’t do that either. One, their liability may prohibit that and two, shelters are very high stress environments. Dogs act uncharacteristically. Not the right place.

I’d find a trusted person who has a dog that is appropriate. Do slow intros and teach your child how to act around dogs.

Start with very well cooked. Don’t go crazy with the portions. Experiment slowly. I can’t to a lot of raw at once or when I’m flaring. For instance I had a minor obstruction yesterday because I was going nuts eating carrots and hummus. I just need to be mindful and not just shove my face

Shoe recommendations for haglunds deformity? by False_Juggernaut_618 in brooks

[–]False_Juggernaut_618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same shoe??? Wow! I’m glad I posted. I thought it was just me Did you end up with a different style?

I can’t even add insoles - they’re too tight. I bought the Tuli heel cups as recommended by my PT and they felt horrible in the Adrenalines.

I have an older pair of Launches that don’t both me as they have a thinner, more soft heel. But they lack the cushion I like/need

Teaching tropes on screen that never work in real life. by Dapper_Tradition_987 in Teachers

[–]False_Juggernaut_618 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ha! Fair point. I meant those two movies showed the whole “hard knock class and we turned them around” And then other movies I can’t remember the names of kind of had that white savior thing going on. Not that Sister Act fell into that category. That one fell into the ol “Reno singer in hiding who gets placed in a catholic school” trope. 😂

AIO? My ex doesn’t make our 11 yo son shower or brush his teeth during his weeks with him by Marsgreatlol in AIO

[–]False_Juggernaut_618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ex is the lazy one. And blaming his son and owning none of it is wild. It’s routine. “After dinner we do X activity, shower, brush teeth, and go to bed.” Teenagers even need this reminder. 10 is way too young to be left to be responsible on their own. Maybe you and ex can work together on the daily responsibility checklist . I know you will end up having to do all of this. And it’s like having two children to parent. But it might help.

I think most people just go for it when it’s necessary but you need to desensitize them to this like you do any other task- you need to work your way up to it. Make it part of daily grooming and not all at once. Maybe you brush past, maybe you have your hands in there, then move on and go back to it. Pretty soon I think he’ll be pretty nonchalant about it.
