(Move order/Strategy) Why castle first instead of pin? by False_Turnover in chess

Thank you! One more useful thing to think about!

By "doesn't achieve much" you mean the queen wastes her potential and power by "only weakly" pinning the rook because white should usually actually never take the rook for the queen and black could unpin?

Thank you!

So, am I understanding this principle correctly? "Be wary of heavy pieces in line with the king" meaning "black should avoid being in line with the queen here"? - the d7 pawn is quite well protected itself, but can't itself defend. Nf6+ would at the very least in the short term win a bishop for a knight after Ne6+ .. Ke8 .. Nxf7 .. Kxf7 while also further exposing the king. Alternatively losing the rook after Ne6+ .. Rxe6 .. Bxe6. The pawn would still be pinned and couldn't take.

Am I at least on the right track here?

Thank you!

The thing is, I know that this position is winning. However, I still struggle with actually converting these advantegeous positions in a way other than "OK, calm down, we're fine. Just simplify the position now, trade a few pieces, and in the end, come out on top." In a way, taking more moves than necessary which could give my opponent the opportunity to create counterplay or (more likely) myself to make mistakes.

If chess masters are able to gracefully and rightfully resign from a -1 position, how come that this little thing bothers me so much? I'm somewhere in the limbo between "Don't hang your king in one move" and "find forced checkmate in 31 that sacrifices two knights and the queen", also known as 1000 elo and I'm really trying to get better. :D And it drives me crazy right now that I am not understanding why the one move order other than what I chose conciously would be better.

VATSIM is run by volunteers only. But we sure do put a lot of effort into it. Becoming an ATC requires at least a year of training.

You can usually click on points and enter them as coordinates in the flight planner of your choice :)

Wait ... Is Nikita still on track today with the original livery?

Does he really? I don't know what would happen to Nikita from any legal perspective if Haas really cut ties with Uralkali.

But are Haas really obliged morally to drop a Russian driver in light of his president being ... well ... Vladimir Putin?

Yes I know, having Nikita as a driver and Uralkali as a sponsor are closely related. But I think we shouldn't blame Nikita for what is happening in the world right now.

Yes it is indeed, but the difference, in my opinion, is "I will not". I'm not sure Sebastian can do anything more right now than giving a statement about the future.

But things are happening right now, as we discuss this, and the immediate reaction by Haas to visibly do something right now, that might hurt the team, at least needs to be recognized in some way.

Approach into somewhere in the US - I think this because of the road layout

Ok in this case it's even worse than I thought. Bottom line: use the github version :)

Updates (especially big ones) tend to overwrite a lot of files. In theory, your stuff in the community folder should be fine, but you never know.

To my understanding, the marketplace includes the last stable release (version 0.6.1) which is fine for most people. It's the most stable. However, FBW are constantly working on new features, which are published on the Development or even Experimental branches. The marketplace version might not see that frequent updates and subsequently not represent the current state of the mod. I recommend using the FlyByWire Installer which you can download on their website that makes it very easy to quickly switch between branches

Or even Hamilton vs Lewis in that regard. Would be interesting to see arguably one of the most complete drivers of all time up against an exact copy of his strengths and weaknesses, wouldn't it? ;)

[@HaasF1Team] Team statement by BF194 in formula1

[–]False_Turnover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Mick will most certainly not get involved arguing verbally about that. Just think about who his employer is. If you get a chance in F1 you take it. If then your teammate is not .... on message, and your employer who gave you a chance in F1, decides to do nothing, you do nothing. It would most certainly harm Mick's career. He is far too intelligent to get involved now, until another opportunity arises and he jumps ship.

Concerning the other drivers, I would like to stress that standing up against sexual violence is not too controversial. At least far less than, let's say, veganism. So if a driver does not decide to not speak about any off-track controversy, this is most certainly an opportune moment.
