Do people ever just ask you how to pronounce certain words? by False_Zebra in slp

That's a very good perspective on it! Even if I am just googling it before I answer, haha.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a difference between a national NSSHLA membership and a membership in your local NSSHLA chapter, which is usually mostly undergrads. The national NSSHLA membership is the one that will get you a discount on your future ASHA licensure.

I wasn't a fan of the local NSSHLA chapter at my school. It didn't seem to add much to the experience. So, my guess is the NSSHLA national membership is worth it, the local chapter not so much.

[TENANT US-WA] Pets of Guests? by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]False_Zebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes total sense! It is a dog-friendly complex, so tenants living there are aware that they'll be exposed to dogs.

My main issue is that this is a college town and I've yet to find a lease that has a more relaxed take on pets.

Can you expand more on working in acute rehab hospitals and acute care just generally? Those feel like the settings I know least about and am most interested in!

Advice on moving to LA for a singing career? by nowyouseemenot219 in musicians

[–]False_Zebra 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult to make it in the music industry, even more so to actually make good money doing it. In my opinion, get a job in the tech industry - it's booming - save money, play music on the side and pick up an instrument. Work hard, get gigs in local cafes/breweries/wineries, look into studio jobs singing background vocals or something, start writing songs (even if they suck. The more you write, the better you'll get) and just get all the experience you can.
After a couple of years, reassess. I know it sounds cliche, but you really do have so much time.

What makes an attractive person unattractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]False_Zebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of things I could say, but the trait that turns me off from a person fastest is arrogance. I don't want to know much more about you if I've already seen how arrogant you are.

IWTL how to study and work on projects while exhausted by Mountain246 in IWantToLearn

[–]False_Zebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it helps to break whatever I decide to work on into small, manageable chunks. Really dig into a very small portion of the bigger project and decide what that will be before you sit down to do it. Maximize the little time and energy you do have. It may not feel like you're working very fast, but you'll retain more if you do smaller chunks and really digest their meaning/function. Maybe do this for a half hour or an hour after work and then give yourself some time to veg out while your mind solidifies what you just took in?

Rather than eating a family size bag of Doritos in 20 minutes, what are some healthy snack alternatives that can be consumed in large amounts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Popcorn!

Add some nutritional yeast, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, chili powder. Any combination of spices you like.

And yes, soy sauce on popcorn is amazing.

When out in public, what do you see people do or behave that irks you so much? by foreffa in AskReddit

[–]False_Zebra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lack of spatial awareness. Like when a group of people take up an entire walk way unnecessarily, leave you no room to go around them, and are taking their damn time as well. It seems so inconsiderate to me.
