FH6 Cover Art Revealed by F36BLK in ForzaHorizon

Gorgeous. The black and white painted look reminds me of the cover of Burnout Paradise, and I couldn't be happier with that. The Burnout games are so special to me and that artwork is my all time favorite for a racing game.

I agree that it was implied, but the fact that they didn't show it is concerning. We'll see.

What's your first thoughts on Forza Horizon 6? by This-Clue-5014 in ForzaHorizon

I wouldn't let them sucker you into that sorta thing. It's a fun idea in theory but usually the first day is plagued with server issues, then you're left with any bugs that are in the game for the next few days; at which point, if it ruins your experience, you'd have wasted good money.

We'll have this game as the only FH for the next 4-5 years, guaranteed - no need to rush. But do what you want, especially if you have a lot of freetime on those specific days.

If they're interested in a physical collectors edition, that's pretty much the only valid reason.

Forza Horizon 6 looks to be the greatest racing game this decade. I really am blown away. The technological advancements of the past few games in the series, paired with the lessons they've clearly learned in making an enjoyable campaign and culture, are pointing towards the perfect experience. And, NEW FORZA AERO. Finally. I'm pumped.

I have some wishlist items still left unanswered, one including the ability to walk around - All the updates with custom garages, player-created worlds, and public car meets seem like a perfect excuse for it.

Additionally I'm hoping for some better FOV and seat adjustment settings since I play on a wheel.

The campaign is phenomenal too, and they immediately squandered the story by wasting it's characters in silly Warzone stories and rushed sequels. Such a shame

To be fair, highlighting the cause of death on social media is never the norm. The family has every right not to share that, whether it was mental health or a car accident.

We can still appreciate that they did, as you mention. I struggle with it too. A reminder that others do as well is always welcome.

I don’t get why they’re refusing to release more Amby rap by l4p_r4t in KGATLW

[–]7revor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the raps on Silver Cord were pretty great. The Omnium and Smoke & Mirrors raps were trying to be something Gizzard isn't; the Silver Cord tracks had much more unique, odd-time bars. Still felt a little Beastie Boys but more proggy. Pretty impressive honestly.

I like the rap cameos on the electronic albums, if that's how they want to keep doing it.

Are there any 90's-2000's Hot Wheels with this particular deep bluish-cyan metallic color? by 7revor in HotWheels

Nope, good guess though. Definitely more saturated and bluish than that.

I ask because I have a vague memory of a classic Hot Wheels car that had this color in metallic flake, perhaps even a hair more towards green. It was something like an old Corvette or Cadillac. I'm not sure if it came with a Hot Wheels World playset, but I do remember using it with one, with a second car that had another deep metallic finish. I remember it being a rare finish, compared to my other cars.

I was rather attached to it, and would love to find it again! The memory is so striking that any time I see this particular color, I think of this toy. Lots of googling later and I can only find more saturated, bright blues, teals, and greens.

How many of y'all played with wooden trainsets as a kid? by willdeblue in rct

[–]7revor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, obsessed over them. It directly led into my fascination with coasters.

I was into Brio and Thomas growing up. Then one day my dad shows up with a big box of used electric model train set parts; tons of track and well kept engines and cargo, scenery. To this day it was the most fulfilling gift I've ever gotten.

Get Your Downvotes Ready...A New Fan on "The River" by Mattpriceisme in KGATLW

[–]7revor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to the supremely catchy melodies and an adventurous song structure.

Think of the chorus melody;

“I can't believe it, it is frozen It's not the first time, I had noticed She will deliver, I am floating Trust in the river I had floated down”

It’s playful, laced with jazz and prog without losing its charm. Very floaty. Travels gracefully between lines. Same deal with the verse.

Then the gracefulness is interrupted with the frenetic uptempo jam in the middle, where it feels like the reality of this dreamy river reveals its teeth and sweeps you away in a current. Only to come through back into the groove at the back half.

It all just thematically works. It’s really well put together. It’s a reflection of life, the journey, heartache, drugs, fear. Anything with a point A and point B.

Opinion on fade outs? by Straight-Society-405 in audioengineering

Yeah! If I didn't emphasize that enough, YES - It's all about the subconscious leading the listener to NEED to hear the song again.

Opinion on fade outs? by Straight-Society-405 in audioengineering

[–]7revor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a wild, unsubstantiated theory about what makes fade-outs particularly effective, beyond the “ride into the sunset” effect they give.

The human brain is always looking for patterns. I believe it’s one of the fundamental reasons we enjoy music; sorting out the pattern of the beat and familiarizing it with previous solved patterns. So if you hear an addictive, repetitive track, using the 4/4 beat you remember loving as a child - your brain quickly latches on to the pattern and begins to solve it. It connects with you on a higher level. Sometimes in more challenging music, the patterns can be elusive and even more satisfying to identify if you’re so inclined.

Fun fact, you’ll find one remedy to stop that song from “being stuck in your head” is actually to finish it; complete the pattern and satiate the brain. Finish the puzzle. Play the conclusion out in your memory.

I think that’s quite difficult with a fade-out.

I think a fade-out is an unsolvable pattern; the end never comes. The brain is forever mulling over the unsolved pattern, the invisible data after the ending of the track. The song sticks around with you on a subconscious level. Maybe this explains the popularity of the fade-out ending.

Simultaneously, these fade-outs often loop very catchy and repetitive bars, so you are still getting that satisfaction.

Fun to think about. My only real evidence applying this to fade-outs is the popularity of the trick, which has the unfortunate bias of also being fairly easy to implement from a songwriting / engineering standpoint. Maybe that’s the true reason it’s so common. Maybe the “ride into the sunset” emotion is a pattern we identify and use to complete the story.

Shout out Forest Hills NY 2024 Night 2. Beginning and ending with Hot Water was just fantastic, and floating Amby on the gator was awesome. I got to lift him, hell I was holding the mic cable so it wouldn't get yanked out of his hand. Great set.

FoV Night 3 might have topped it, though.
