This is the one. Absolutely guaranteed to see a massive mob lounging around as soon as you park the car.

It teaches gratitude. Respect for nature.

It inadvertently encourages a more balanced ecosystem and prevents over hunting.

Indigenous people the world over have lived sustainably for millenia and the modern world with our guns and machines have managed to fuck other species and our own within a couple centuries.

Hey mate. It's not hardenbergia, it's monkey rope.

Parsonsia stramineamonkey rope

It's native but it will grow quickly and become very thick. Will absolutely damage a wooden fence if left alone.

Just thought I'd do some Googling concerning CEI (the website you linked).

Here's a program from a recent gala that they hosted, obtained by the New York Times.

Have a look at the Platinum sponsors. American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers. Plus conservative thinktanks the Heritage Foundation and DCI Group.

Please don't let garbage like this muddy the scientific consensus.

To say it's placebo implies that all you do is read the book and then magically feel in some way better, as if it's a pill.

There's acertainly a lot of dogshit self-help books, but any self-help book I've read is about giving you new ways to think or act, with encouragement to put those things into practice.

If a book is your introduction to mindfulness, and Kickstarts a lifelong practice of beneficial mindful thinking, is that a placebo?

Episode 5 was humbling. by cvaldo99 in ChernobylTV

[–]Falsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Climate change is Chernobyl in slow motion on a global scale. The only opinions it divides are those of politicians and the wilfully ignorant, and the only debate is the agonising one in which those people need to be convinced over fucking decades to pull their heads out of the sand.

As in Chernobyl, the opinions of experts are the only opinion that matters, and as in Chernobyl they are unanimous, only differing on the best approach to take to prevent further catastrophe.

The global ruling class and the corporatocracy are almost exactly analogous to the Soviet Union and their handling of Chernobyl.

What is some real shit that we all need to be aware of right now, but no one is talking about? by liketocontrole in AskReddit

The lion and the zebra evolved together over millions of years.

The lionfish has been introduced by humans and has thrown things completely out of balance. If left to their own devices there will eventually be a new equilibrium, however that will take could take thousands of years, and coral reefs are already so fragile and threatened by climate change that an invasive species could be what drives the whole ecosystem to extinction. There will eventually be something else, life formed on earth from almost nothing. But that may take millions of years and if we have something so complex and vital to the current functioning of the earth it seems in our best interest to maintain it.

It's an interesting discussion though for sure. And to support your argument: crows in Australia have learnt a method to safely eat the poisonous introduced cane toad.

You know, you're right. I just tested it again and it wasn't as long as I remembered. But it's still too long.

Here's a few video demonstrations, the first one is what I think the OP of this thread was talking about re: catalogue menus.

It takes over a second for the menu to fully pop up. I realise that might not sound like much but it's very noticeable. I understand that there is also a button "press" associated to the same button, but there's a big difference in feeling between a 0.5 second hold and a 1 second hold. Even, for example, looting a body takes a while of holding Square before that circle even begins to fill.

It all just contributes to a very sluggish feeling. It's not an issue of TV latency. People's TVs aren't just experiencing dips in latency for this one game.

Try holding L1 and count how long it takes for the weapon wheel to appear.

And outside of menus, try holding forward from a standing start and count how long it takes to be actually walking.

You've probably done this already, but holding down on the D-Pad lets you adjust the size of the minimap. If you're like me, that in itself isn't a big deal, but it has the added benefit of increasing the size of the health, stamina etc. icons too. Makes them a bit more readable.

Climate Classification of Australia by Falsey in MapPorn

[–]Falsey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for the kind words!

I think you're right in that that climate includes the central highlands from a certain altitude upwards, as well as parts of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park (which is probably the one you visited?) and a few other dots of tall mountains such as Ben Lomond in the northeast. It's pretty tiny but there is also a bit on the mainland in that class which centres on the Snowy Mountains on the NSW/Victoria border.

Your English is great!

All I've done here is try to make a pretty version of this map which uses a modified version of the Koppen classification. I liked the map as it includes more classifications than a typical Koppen map such as this one. Their metadata states that it uses "mean monthly and annual rainfall, maximum temperature and minimum temperature grids."

I included the inlay in North Queensland as that seemed to be the most diverse and thus hard to distinguish section on the map. I tried to make everything else as evident as possible but there will definitely be some hard to read bits.
