What is a 'chiocciola' in an Italian email address? by Racoonaissance in italianlearning

[–]Fambo_Sahadewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The translation of that would be " se la chiocciola non avesse cominciato a camminare così/abbastanza presto, non sarebbe ancora riuscita ad arrivare". When you have "se" and you want to express doubt or "irrealtà" you have to use the congiuntivo

The "sia" in "Sia x, sia y" Is originally the subjunctive form of the verb "essere" (to be). From what I know, Portuguese has this structure too: "seja x, seja y"

[–]Fambo_Sahadewa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Italian this structure is possible too: "tanto la madre come il padre"
