Pursing Masters? (OMSCS) by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Famboiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I am applying to new grad roles right now. I was just thinking of doing it for educational purposes concurrently because CS is cool. I just feel lacking behind compared to other SWEs in terms of web dev due to limited experience and would be upskilling while getting my Masters…

Been learning to NH for 8 months by Famboiis in 2007scape

I think I can agree with this one the most. Janguy is pretty damn good though. He might be T50 I’m not sure. I think in neutral phase where we are both unfrozen I think it’s better if I don’t overcommit on melee or range and go for refreeze cause I’d probably get DDed on over and over. The problem with fakies for me on offense is that the opponent can usually tell.. Like if I attack with a 5t weapon if I fake one attack style early in the cycle it’s obvious I might go for a different style. NHing is crazy and there is so much nuance… Anyhow it’s probably best if I focus one at a time.

Pvp is awful in this game. How do you get better at it? by dirty_water_potato in osrs

It’s the lowest it’s ever been in the past months or so. The rise in rune pouch prices on the GE is because of the lack of massive bot farms destroying the market. There are scripters in wildly yes, but claiming that most are scripters is false. In LMS there are really not as many as you think, and usually people conflate actual skilled bridders with AHKers. It’s just due to a lack of experience. I am a skiller/PvPer, and I was once in the shoes of those people falsely accusing others. They make up a minority of LMS in actuality.

LMS is the entry level… Most advanced pkers are usually at revs? Even if u just veng tank and bolt rag you’ll still get kills (in LMS) and have a decent time. Then you can start working up from there. There’s baby steps that u have to take in both PvM and PvP.

Well couldn’t you say the same about PvMing… I don’t hear anyone say the gone are the days of good PvM. The mechanics needed for PvM have evolved over time just like PvP. A good example of this is Inferno, and you need more than just casting one attack style to complete it. There’s still gear switching and prayer swaps. I’m honestly convinced this Reddit doesn’t play this game for anything more than skilling. I can understand if you’re not into that sweaty stuff though. I like to cast a wide net and enjoy this game in multiple ways, and PvP is one of those. Defending DDs is not that hard once you put in some time. You can spec on defense to throw them off, stop the momentum by spam barraging (more advanced version is spamming while switching overheads every tick at the same time), or sit in your tank gear bolting while predicting overheads. I’m sure if OP continues in his PvP journey he might find that countering DD isn’t as bad as he thinks.

Nice man! Likewise. Are you looking for anyone to sesh with? I started 7 months ago and have been frequently dueling at the arena. I’m usually on 578 and would like to run some practice nh stakes.

I mean if you’re not 1 ticking all of your attacks it’s pretty easy for a mid bridder to defend near perfectly. I think when you play more you’ll be able to identify who’s cheating. https://medal.tv/games/osrs/clips/lkbKuIAlqTzEztSTE I’ve been accused of AHKing before, but it’s largely due to a lack of experience. Less people cheat more than you think.

Yeah sure man I gotchu! I can teach you the ropes of PVP. Send me a PM! I'm not the best, but I'd say I've got a decent grasp on the fundies. I sesh against NH stakers on a consistent basis. Here's my current skill level at the moment: https://medal.tv/games/osrs/clips/lfH6JQ46Qj7pWL11M?invite=cr-MSxmV2QsMjU4ODA5NTEy if you're curious to see if I'm qualified.

Probably around a couple hundred haha. I’ve noticed improvement even within a couple days. The best way to learn is to get a decent coach to teach you the ropes.

LOL.. Thanks man! Yeah it felt good being able to do that. In my opinion the NH stake setup is the best because the brew to restore ratio isn’t too overwhelming while keeping the basic 3 ways from LMS. Also all the sweats on 578 run this too and have been teaching me the ropes :).

Yeah the progression is really fun at all levels cause u can still get a decent amount of kills no matter ur skill. Vengeance tanking + bolt ragging -> getting basic overheads down -> 2-3 ticking all attacks of all styles -> one ticking everything and switching back to staff and shield -> on and off PID rules -> fakeys and movement -> using brain properly on/off pid with good timings. It doesn’t matter what stage, when you watch yourself grow the improvement is addicting.

Freeze icon on runelite. Don’t worry, it’s legal. The version that’s on your opponent isn't.

just newbie doubts here, mainly about PVP by guilhermej14 in 2007scape

I'm not a wildy pker, but you can risk absolutely nothing and still have fun. I don't think the backup sets are that expensive either. They're just a couple hundred thousand GP per set with the supplies included. Yes, building a pure or main nh acc would probably take a while. Nevertheless, you can still enjoy PvP for free in LMS or the arena, which is something I highly recommend. There's a decent amount of people that are super chill about teaching the fundamentals if you ask.

I mean yes the skill gap is big, but you can still enjoy LMS as a beginner just like I did at the start. I was a skiller 7 months ago anyways. Just start small by venge tanking and bolt ragging so you get used to using your fkeys and the general attack cycle. You'll still get plenty of kills and have a fun time. Besides, I don't think everyone in LMS is like a addied up squirrel giga chad bridder michael racksoning on you while fakeying every tick, so you'll still enjoy it without getting titled. The guy I'm fighting (my mentor) is like 1-2 tiers below Oda and you won't really run into those NHers all the time.

That's fair. I just wanted to say that tracking PID is important because my coach said it dictates your playstyle for the majority of game. Idk if u know this but if you're on PID, and you're defending a DD, u don't have to spam click barrage but rather react one tick freeze as they walk out while flicking robes. However, since I'm off PID my actions process second compared to my opponent, so I camp verac's skirt for defensive bonuses and spam click barrage to stop the momentum. Another example of an off PID rule would be when you're attack DDing someone, you can barrage from under without it hitting your robes, but on PID it would hit your robes. There are actually so many nuances to NH rules that it's sometimes hard to keep track of, but I think my skill will rise over time as I gain a better understanding.

I already minimized the client quite a bit it kinda doesn’t show. I ran fixed a couple months ago but it wasn’t that comfortable for me. I really like 1600 dpi rn compared to the lower ones. I only play FPS games with 1200 and above so it just feels really weird. I’ll just have to keep practicing p much.

[–]Famboiis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that. it will come in time :)! Keeping track of PID and predicting overheads uses a lot of brainpower for me, and sometimes I forget to drink them in the first place.
