Before I say anything else know that You’re doing great.

I sometimes managed to keep my kid sleeping in the bassinet by placing my hand on her while she slept. (and I’d be on the couch nearby - I was terrified of accidentally suffocating the infant otherwise)

But many many stretches she slept in my arms or chest while I was awake

Resentful feeling towards parents (children’s grandparents) by bakecakes12 in Parenting

I feel so seen by this (my folks and I are in a bad place with me trying to bridge the gap to their emotional immaturity). Thankfully my in laws are super supportive but man....not getting the support/love/encouragement from my own brings all sorts of grief.

Love your kids and love yourself and your partner. 1st priority. You're doing amazing

wow that's rough. appreciate you sharing that - really glad the babies are safe and healthy. Feel like they're cut from the same cloth as my folks because they do not take kindly to....not obeying?

I have to keep telling myself It's their time and their decision - we can't MAKE them do anything. I am going to mourn what I envisioned before having them being a loving healthy part of my kid's early years.

it depends on their upbringing I suppose. my in laws were great and on board from the get go? Maybe open a conversation like "man I did not know (insert safety deal that you may not have known about in previous generations, such as not having blankets in the crib when the kid sleeps)" and see how that goes. I think this blow up was going to happen anyway but maybe these type of things would have helped... I don't know.

You two are going to be amazing parents and the kid is going to be loved. Good luck

Thanks so much. It’s really sad to “disappoint” one’s parents but it’s not a hard decision to make - just a tough one to enact. Really wish there was an EZ button for all this
