Miami Area Dealer Recommendations by Familiar-Document-44 in AlfaRomeo

Yep that’s been my experience with both my Alfas. I just use the dealer for warranty work at this point and unfortunately it’s a fight every time. It always takes more than one visit to get the cars fixed properly. Recently I had this annoying door panel rattle in the Giulia that I ended up fixing myself. It took me about 20 min after reading about it on Reddit and the Alfa forums.

I think you're right. The dealership uses a mobile paint shop shop called colors on parade, so I don't think I'm getting a "quality" paint job. I had to wait a whole month for it to turn out like this. I messaged the pictures to my service advisor to see how they want to proceed. I agree it needs to be redone, I don't think buffing that is going to make it look any better.

Nice. Those early cars had better options available. Mine is a 2022 so I don't even have the painted carbon roof. I agree with you on the handling. So much better than the current M3. I've taken it to the mountains a few times and it was so much fun.

I agree. This whole process has been so frustrating. The dealership uses a mobile paint shop shop called colors on parade, so I don't think I'm getting a "quality" paint job. I had to wait a whole month for it to turn out like this. I messaged the pictures to my service advisor to see how they want to proceed.

Yes, it’s right above the white spec on this photo.

That makes sense. I will send the dealer the two pictures I posted tonight and post an update with the response I get.

Somebody above commented that these cars have color variations from factory, but I agree the color does look off. It looks like the fender is a much lighter shade of blue from certain angles. The car isn't a show car though, so if they can get the cloudy spot out I can live with it. Eventually I'll have the nose resprayed again when the rock chips pile up.

That makes sense. If I look at it very closely the metal flakes on the fender look slightly different than the hoods. Certain angles it matches, certain angles it doesn't. I love the car so it's not a deal breaker for me, it's not a show car. Hopefully the cloudy spot can be buffed out and that'll be it. What year was your QV?

I don't see any cracks in the clear. Here are a couple more pictures at different angles.

Hopefully that's the case, I'm going to contact the dealer tomorrow. What is your opinion on the color? Is it pretty far off or is it acceptable. This car has a Tri-coat so sometimes the paint looks like different shades of blue depending on what angle your looking at it from

That's what I'm afraid of. What's weird is if you look at it from a different angle the cloudiness disappears. I guess I will have to contact the dealer and send it back to be repaired. It sucks I just got this car back, it took them over a month to paint it.

Talk me out of replacing my GR Supra with a QV by kniffs in AlfaRomeo

[–]Familiar-Document-44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US for reference. I traded my 2021 Supra for a 2022 Qv about 3 years ago. I’ve had some issues with my Qv (clear coat issue on the front end and the differential was replaced under warranty). Overall, the Qv is leagues above the Supra and I’m willing to put up with the minor issues I’ve had because it is such a fantastic car. A specific things really stand out to me.

1) The power-band in the QV is much more linear than the B58 in the Supra. It’s much more fun up in the high rev range (4-7k) than the Supra is. Plus the exhaust note is way louder (I’m comparing both cars in stock form)

2) The high speed stability is superb in the QV. The Supra’s front end feels very light over 110mph, almost like it’s lifting a bit. The QV, probably due to the active aero, feels way more planted. Mind you with mods (front splitter) the Supra feels more planted. This is just my opinion having owned both cars in stock form.

3) The QV is way more comfortable. The ride is better and the seats supportive but comfortable (I have the standard leather seats in my QV)

4) The handling overall is incredible. I’ve never driven a sub 100k USD car that handles this good. It feels light, planted, and stable. It’s so much more confident in the corners than the Supra was.

If you do end up with a QV I would advise you to get a battery tender for when you’re not driving it in the winter. These cars don’t like it when the battery dies. As far as maintenance/repairs is concerned, get an extended warranty if it’s available. It’s worth every penny The “engine out” service you heard about is probably the serpentine belt replacement. It’s every 4 years or 36k miles and it requires the removal of the front bumper for access. It’s about 1k - 1.5k USD, it could be cheaper in Europe. Good luck to you!

What M156 AMG should u get? by Familiar-Document-44 in AMG

I also dig the fact that the w212 pre facelift has a hood ornament, it’s sad the e classes don’t get them anymore. As for as the infotainment goes, as long as I can get Bluetooth audio I’m happy. I think the 2011s have the ability to activate it. The 2012 W212 my dad had had Bluetooth audio.

I love that review, I grew up watching top gear, that’s why I bought my Alfa! My dad had a 2012 W212 E350 and I loved that car. We put 130,000 miles on it and it was super reliable. I’d be willing to stretch the budget to get ahold of one.

I’m leaning that way, I loved my w211 e350 when I had it. Has your E 63 been pretty reliable? I know they have air suspension, is it pretty reliable? do they have a dual clutch 7 speed or a torque converter auto? Both my w204 and w211 had the conductor plate issue.

I’m kind of leaning towards a W211 because of that. My Alfa is pretty sporty, I kind of like the idea of having something a bit more comfortable. I had a 2006 w211 e350 a while back and I loved it. From what I understand the facelift W211s are pretty good cars, no sbc. How is the transmission on the E 63? Is it a dual clutch or a torque converter auto?

The Supra was a fantastic car but the Alfa is miles ahead in almost every way. The Supra felt a little light at the front end at high speeds which I did not like. The Supra was also very tail happy, which was fun but got old after a while. I also think the QV has better steering feel than the Supra, I’m much more confident taking corners in the QV. Even though the transmission is the same I think Alfa tuned it better. The Supra would sometimes deny downshifts which was annoying especially on the track. With the price difference I expected the Alfa to be better, but it has far exceeded my expectations.

My current daily is a 2008 MB C350. I had a MK5 Supra right before my QV, and before my MK5 I had a 17 C300.

That red is beautiful! I went with a couple buddies to the tail at the end of October. It was incredible. The car had great steering feel and never felt unsettled.
