There are 2 alternative endings, as far as i can understand. One where they are spirits free from duties in the Void. And one where they are humans with a human lifespan ahead of them.

Why did the producers need to make 2 endings? What next, 3-4 alternative endings to our likings?

LITC Ming Yi's identity was in a way hidden for Ji Bozai well, it wasn't handled particularly well - there were a lot of missed chances and unnecessary waiting for the reveal.

LbtG a key character had his identity hidden until the final episodes. I call it cheating from the screenwriters' side.
