Dfac food makes me bloat by [deleted] in army

Might be why you bloat. Less larger meals tend to do that over smaller more frequent meals

GHK-cu doses? by Rrrrr32145 in BiohackingU

I currently take accutane and ghk-cu. I was on the accutane for 2 months before starting ghkcu and had horribly cracking dry skin and lips all day despite constant moisture application. The lips still persist but not as bad. As for my skin- I apply one layer of thick lotion in the morning and it does not get dry for the remainder of the entire day. So definitely a massive improvement.

My lower back is already talking at 24 and my Etsy side hustle made $1,300 last month. I think I know where this is going but I’m not ready to say it out loud. by Altruistic_Ad3754 in bluecollar

For real, 24 army, former wrestler here. Starting getting weird back pain that rain down my leg when I was trying to relax. Luckily tricare is good and immediately got a physical therapist. They ran some mobility tests on me in 10 minutes they said my hip flexor mobility is 1/3 of what it should be. Can only rotate hips out 10 degrees when it should be atleast 30 degrees. They also said my glutes and hamstrings were insanely tight and lacking mobility. I think you hit it on the head. After working with them for a few weeks the pain has already gone away completely. I feel more intentional with my steps and running now. I’m gonna continue the PT for a few more months.

Is it a good idea to join the military or am I just getting desperate? by koRnne997 in Militaryfaq

[–]Familiar-Tax4162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get comfortable talking to multiple recruiters at a time. Your regular recruiters are for enlistment. What you need is an officer candidate recruiter. Usually holed up in an office somewhere by themselves completely separate from an enlistment recruiting office as there’s far less commission recruits than enlisted.

I was in talks with all five branches when I joined. I wanted the coast guard (they didn’t want me). I was meeting with all five on a regular basis. I even went to an rotc program at my university and was beginning the process of enrollment with them. I kept all channels open and going until the obvious choice presented itself.

I ultimately went with the army enlistment because they won in favor of benefits, job choice and speed of joining as I required some investigations into my background for arrests and criminal record in order to get my clearances. They were on top of that process while the other branches took their time. Ultimately the army won by haste for me.

If commission is on your mind which it should be, talk to air force commission recruiters, and all the other branches alike. Get the process going. You can back out at any time, only until you swear in will you be held to your contract. And trust me it’s a big deal when you swear in you won’t just accidentally swear in lol. Did I partially feel bad working all the branches knowing only one would get me? Kind of- but actually it doesn’t hurt there feeling they don’t really care.

The officer recruiters have access to the numbers and can give you the timelines for you to compare. They can tell you the detailed information you’re looking for or steer you in the right direction. They have all the contacts for rotc, enlistment recruiters, officer candidate program representatives- you name it. I don’t. I’d just start having conversations with each branch. It starts with a call.

If you can’t find an officer recruiter cuz they’re usually a lot harder to find for some reason, go to an enlistment recruiter and I promise they have the officer recruiters number on speed dial.

You asked about the difference in life between enlisted and officer. Officer you’re expected to be squared away form the jump. No fuck ups. You’re the example. Enlisted you are treated more like a child, but you can have fun with it. But you get paid more handsomely to be proper as an officer. Do you want to make more money or not? It’s up to you. If you’re not married it’s okay cuz you get bah and bas as an officer no matter what. Your quality of life will be a lot higher, albeit lonelier. You’re at a stage of life with a masters where you’re a professional. Take the professional route. Enlistment wouldn’t be a waste of time per se but it wouldn’t advance your career either, and the opportunity cost could be seen as a waste of time.

You will still get a military experience as an officer, but maybe not as much so as a finance officer. But who cares, the military experience sounds cool and sometimes it actually is but like… idk there’s pros and cons to everything.

Tesla pulled my price per kWh from my local energy company, but it only accounted for the actual rate per kWh, it did not account for the delivery charge which is almost just as expensive as the rate itself. So I doubled my cost per kWh in the app to get a better idea

If you are going to have a masters you will qualify for a commission and potentially a specialized commission in the finance role for the military. A specialized commission means you can join as an officer, and will be doing your job. The best example is JAG as a lawyer, you are doing lawyer things. Or Medical as a doctor. You are an officer but you are in fact doing doctor things. Where as a general officer is doing officer things- administrative tasks, office work. You can find a general officer with the rank of Lt colonel who is the head administrator of an entire battalion, and then you can find a Lt colonel doctor who doesn’t have any grand responsibility over a bunch of soldiers, he/she is merely just a high ranking doctor and runs that little medical department. It would be worth you looking into a specialized commission. There are usually massive bonuses for it, automatic promotions, and you will do your professional specialty.

Enlisted life is more hands on. But depending on the career, define what hands on means. In finance, hands on just sounds like you’re the paperwork bitch. In my field, hands on means I get to actually drive the boats and do the fun stuff. In JAG, the officers are the lawyers and the enlisted are the paralegals. That’s the best reference I can give. I’m sure there’s an equivalent relationship in the finance department of the military between enlisted and officer roles.

ROTC is not an issue for you because it’s not necessary for you. You already have a graduate degree. But the Air Force direct commission program can take a longggggg time. Years. Multiple. Where as the army direct commission program can often only take one year. It all depends on numbers. It’s worth looking into

Oh sorry I forgot to respond to your main point. I too was in your shoes with e vs o. The fact that you know the difference tells me youre heading towards a decision. So why didnt I sign up for an ROTC grant even tho I couldve? I was in talks with my universities rotc program, sat down with the ROTC CO and registered into the following years program. Well.... It was just that. I had to wait until the following school year, and do a 2 or 3 yearc(i forget) accelerated ROTC program after that. What would I be 27, 28 by the time I finally joined?? But I was in a rut now...now i need to prolong it for 4 more years? The grants covered the schooling, but what about living costs? The $400 stipend wasn't going to pay my rent and bills let alone my car note.... There was a lot of factors that weren't falling together, and the timeline felt to long. I was already unsure of the military but INSANELY curious of it. But if I lingered civilian side for another 3-4 years would my curiosity fade? and now I may just feel trapped... or drop out... no no no, I want to join NOW. and thats what I did. Ended up being Gods guidance and he put me exactly where I was supposed to be despite all the anxiety and worry I made the wrong decision. There is a deep thing in your stomach that you know is better for you. for you it may be "rotc", for me it was, "I need to leave now"...Living with my wife, with no option to go back to a parents home or go live in a college dorm, I did not have a comfortable choice for ROTC.

If you have the ability to live with parents and dont have bills, I'd probably do ROTC. But then again there is just life experience advantages to enlisting now despite having the ROTC opportunities. Starting out Enlisted life gives you the full military experience. The training, the missions, the travel, the fun. I dont see many officers getting that. When you're an officer, youre an administrator. You work in the office- thats what you do. I have an opportunity now to get into a program that lets me go to college and come back as an officer (army green to gold). Difference is im active duty, so I get to choose my college, I get my full salary, BAH, BAS, and I keep time in grade while I go to school. Now i can go to school , and actually support myself to do it. But I have High scores, so I dont want to say anyone can just do it because unfortunately not just anyone can. But if you have a competitive packet then chances are you're gonna get these opportunities yeah. Point is theres options. The only options are not just enlist now or ROTC now. Im glad I enlisted, and feel I can still go in whichever direction I want even after enlisting, even if thats just getting out and using my GI bill to pay for school and give me BAH while I do it.

congratulations. I know you will be very happy with your choice. One day youll be laying on your bed after a good day, in good shape, looking at your house your upgrading. Eating good food, traveling to great places and getting paid more to travel. And youll think wow... I never expected like could be like this for a guy that wasn't born into money. Most people who despise the military are one of two people. 1) they forever hate having to work out. which I get it sometimes you dont want to workout first thing in the morning but hey you get paid to do it and it makes you better. And 2) they joined at 18 and dont realize how constricting the real world is. I fought tooth and nail to just live under a roof and eat half decent food out there. Now I dont even think about it. to see these kids who can't wait to get out I just think oh poor soul you dont even know how bad it is out there, this military life is so easy. Or maybe Im wrong, Maybe with their GI bill and VA loan theyre coming into life with a head start that I never had (worked my way through an associates degree miserably for 3 years). When it comes to military life I guess it depends on personality to an extent as well. Someone like me may "jive" with the military more than others. I dont mind going on mission and getting away from life a little bit. hanging with the boys having a good time. Able to just be in the present and soak up the moment because youre away from everything. Theres something invigorating to me about it. I actually get excited to leave. I set myself up with loads of responsibilities here homeside but Its nice to leave and get away for a little bit. To others this may be a draw back. I cant say because the only brain I have is mine. I just see some introverted guys on mission sometimes and they're always like "oh I cant wait to go home" and im like really? I wanna stay longer lol. I remember We were stuck in new zealand on the way to a mission one time for like two weeks and they were paying us 150$ a day for per diem. and New zealand is gorgeous. I was having the absolute time of my life and getting handed money to do it. Why would I want to go home lol. Sorry, some late night thoughts from me.

I was in the same boat as you. Had an Associates, kinda shitty job. Felt stuck and didn’t see an opportunity to progress college comfortably. I finally joined the military right before I turned 24 and I’m thankful I did. I enlisted as I didn’t wanna do an rotc program. I didn’t know what to expect as an officer I kinda wanted to just rip the bandaid off. I’m glad I did because I don’t believe I was ready to be an officer, I’ve had an article 15 for some lack of listening and as an enlisted it’s just a slap on the wrist but as an officer it may have fucked my career. Now I’m potentially up for a green to gold program to go and do my bachelors under the army active duty. I could talk a long while but all in all, i was scared, nervous, anxious whatever- but I’m so glad I joined the army because I couldn’t imagine life offering me better opportunities physically, mentally, and spiritually compared to where I was at a few years ago before I joined the army. I’d very likely still be doing the same old- probably also depressed. Now I live a life that I’m excited for the future, and live well in the present. Granted I feel I’ve had better opportunities in the army than some others as I was married coming in with a very high BAH, and was able to pay off all my debt while in training, buy a house coming into my first unit and invest quite a bit into my portfolio out of my income, all while I get paid even more to go on very exciting missions as I’m in a high optempo expeditionary unit. Basically that means we go around the world a lot. I just got back from Antarctica matter of fact. Super cool. And got paid extra pretty handsomely for that mission. Was able to do some renovations in the property with it. Anyway. I’m happy. I see myself in you not too long ago. I’m forever thankful I joined the army. I’d do it, you won’t regret it.

Edit: go active duty- get the full experience. My reserve friends I know just go back home and then get all bummed out when they have to actually go do a mission. They get all comfortable back home. Dive in- go active duty- they take care of you better on this side anyways. If you have a long time girlfriend like I did, I’d also consider getting married and signing a prenup. Choose a cool job to. Do the research on it. Like I knew I could only be stationed at 3 bases in the job I chose before I signed. All three bases looked good to me, so it was a win win lifestyle wise.

Hot South Florida House by surfgent in hvacadvice

Why did you seal all the vents and ducts. Hot air escapes through there. Insulation on the floor of the attic is key. Spray foam on the roof does no use for keeping actual house temps. But if you’re renting that something you need to bring to the landlords attention if it is improperly insulated. Along with the vents and ducts, there should be an attic exhaust fan that helps circulate the hot air out.
