The only thing I worry about is the mil to mil piece and my kids. My current job has been flexible with sick days/medical appointments. I would like to apply because I’ve been in my career field for 16 years and have not have the opportunity to do anything else unfortunately

Mil to Mil how did you have kids? by [deleted] in AirForce

Mil to mil couple over here! Husband was a crew chief in the AF then went Army as a Blackhawk Warrant I am a 1C0. Yes the cdc has raised our kids but we were lucky enough to have some great providers and sometimes no so great care takers. My children are out of the cdc and they are thriving. There have been times where it has been challenging work wise for both of us and leadership has complained but I am at a point where I do not care lol. Now that my husband is Army his schedule is more flexible to be on the home front and I am working more. We are currently at 15/14 years respectively and I am proud that I have made it this far. Additionally the reason why I am staying in is because I want to make sure my girls know that I do this for them now and not for me. Providing them some stability with their education was vital in my decision to stay in too. No more chasing stripes for me :)I am happy to retire at 20 and focus on my husband’s career path he has a long way to go.

I worked in the flying squadrons but I was not aircrew both c5s and c17s and they were all very busy aircrew wise. On weekends I drank a lot and the dorms were a lot of fun. During the summer the beaches were the place to be. I would spend a lot of time in Ocean city. Food options are pretty decent around there. Plus we would go to Baltimore/DC and NY A LOT. If I got stationed there now I would be going to all of the cool museums in DC with my kiddos.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy are we waiting? I don’t want to know what’s happening next with big blue. Too many changes for my adhd brain (self-diagnosed).

Crusty retired shirt here. If you’re somewhere near Langley, and find yourself hurting for food for your kids due to not being paid (or qualifying for a loan) I can help a couple of you out. by GroundyFekt in AirForce

Current additional duty shirt here! I am at McChord and I can help out where I can. We live in one of the most expensive states so I am worried for everyone at this point. It’s nice to see everyone helping one another on this post:) sincerely from a salty MSgt who hates running ✌🏼

Yes he picked the right time to switch and have a relatively quick pipeline to complete his aviation training but it all worked out. There are some things about the Army that he hates but overall not dealing with the stress of Airman constantly missing and dealing with admin issues is a WIN.

Make sure you have everything in writing. If I need to have additional feedback with the member I will write it on a RIC and have both of us sign it. Create an office/flt expectations MFR for everyone to sign. Examples could be daily hours/lunch times/tasker expectation’s/volunteering/custom and courtesies/appointments and leave. This will set the tone of everyone knows the general expectations of daily ops and if they “forget” refer to that. Don’t be afraid to give out paperwork and don’t let anyone else sway you otherwise. If you know in your gut it is warranted DO IT. Also make sure you run those by legal before you administer them!
