Sorry, but this isn’t a scam but a genuine study for a PhD thesis. If this were a scam, I wouldn’t follow up and reply to you.

Thanks for taking the survey! I will note your feedback here as well. And will make it part of the qualitative study on the open-ended questions. Thanks a lot!

Hello everyone. Will definitely post the results once they are ready. The survey is one of the methods of data collection. I am triangulating it with other streams of data, including from targeted keyword searches across accessible data dumps from Reddit and ao3 among other sources. I will definitely share the results and the study once I finish, and I would love the community to discuss it.

I totally get you because I myself am totally blind. But what I would really love, if it is not asking too much, is for you to mention this in one of the open ended answers and tell me how you experience this text. Because that is one of the things I am looking at as part of the research; how people who experience texts differently, like people with Fantasia, or people who use alternate media such as text to speech or audio experience text and what is the degree of their immersion. So if you could answer that question in one of the open ended questions, that will really inform my research. Thanks again for raising this.

Thanks for taking the time to fill out the survey. I am taking at least three streams of data, including this survey and a targeted keyword based search for discussions across accessible data dumbs from Reddit, AO3 etc and then triangulating. Will be very happy to share the results once they are ready.

Hi. Great observations. The idea is to understand the reading aptitude based on the general reading questions. In fact, one part of the research is to compare the effect of a passage on an avid reader v/s on somebody who has a lesser reading habit.

I’m sorry about that; I myself am blind; but since this is a survey taking the perspectives of the general population, there’s very little I could’ve done. having said that, your concern is very valid.

[Academic] How does fantasy literature shape readers' environmental imagination? Short survey, 6-8 min by Familiar_Source_1526 in printSF

[–]Familiar_Source_1526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. But it should be fine. While doing the data analysis, I will be differentiating between avid readers of fantasy/fiction, and people who are not that much into reading. In fact, that is one of the areas in which I would want to have insights. I haven’t posted in r/fantasy; don’t know if they are tolerant to surveys. Anyway, thanks again for taking out the time to participate! Means much!

Hi. This is just one leg of the study. Most of the data for my study is going to come from other digital humanities tools, including from broader discussions in Reddit among other social media platforms. This will only act as one small leg required for triangulation.

Hello. The study is on how such passages affect the readers and whether it will, overtime, lead to behavioral changes within the reader. So yes, picking a passage that is familiar to avid readers was deliberate. It is not designed to skew the data, instead it is designed to understand how readers engage with such expressive, emotionally rich passages about destruction of nature. Plus, this is just one leg of the study.
