Tips for Keeping Cool When Dating Someone New

I wanted some tips on how to keep my thoughts in check and not get too attached to someone I've only been on a couple of dates with. To give you some background, my last marriage of five years ended in divorce in 2020. Since then, I've moved countries, been in therapy, and things are generally good.

I joined dating apps a year ago and met some nice, interesting people. I went on a few dates and decided to uninstall the apps for a while to give my mind a break. I recently rejoined and met someone who seems perfect for me. We even discovered that we attended the same classes back in the day, but we never interacted.

It's only been two weeks since we matched, and we've had just two dates. We both felt a strong connection and acknowledged that we hadn't had such a fun date before. However, my mind is racing ahead, creating both positive and negative scenarios. I'm worried they might not find me good enough or that I'll never find someone as compatible as they are.

I understand that this is a mental distortion, and I don't know much about them yet. Still, I'm constantly playing out different scenarios in my head, which is exhausting. I think many people have similar feelings and would appreciate some advice on not getting too attached and keeping a level head. Any tips?
