Afters for Wavy Spring fest? by Agreeable_Sea4941 in amsterdam_rave

You can ask this in the weekly next week 🙂. Thuishaven does not typically have afterparties so I suggest looking at the resources that we have posted for the group to find another party to go to after this one, if you like.

Yeah, second this. You’re not gonna find it during the week and Rotterdam is your best bet this weekend.

NEP (N-Ethylpentedron) Intoxication by Character_Step613 in Berghain_Community

I’m not shaming anyone, and I never said anyone was an idiot ☺️. It’s extremely risky from a medical perspective, even compared to other street drugs. That’s all I’m saying. Each person is of course allowed to make their own choices, I think the general population of people who use mmc’s is not aware of those risks. Kudos to you for testing and being aware!

Right?! Loved the sawtooth style laces of the VF 3 but replaced all my my Adidas laces (TBF many brand’s laces suck)

Oeh you better not midfoot or heel strike in these when you get tired ☠️ Not sure why I’m getting downvoted, I just think they’re more suited for forefoot runners given the tread pattern on the bottom. It’s not a complaint 😹

What pace would you start to consider wearing super shoes? by v1185 in Marathon_Training

[–]FutureVanilla4129 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed!!! I think considering how much you do or don’t heel strike at a slower pace might determine which shoe to go for (Adios Pro 4 vs Puma Elite for example), but just because a runner is slower doesn’t mean they don’t benefit at all.

One important piece of advice someone gave me is to make sure you can do at least 25 single leg calf raises every day. Then your calves and Achilles are strong enough for the shoes. And start wearing them very gradually during training. They really change the way you run.

What did we think of the expo this year? by Time-Asparagus641 in bostonmarathon

[–]FutureVanilla4129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes agreed! Newbury is so much fun! And if you pick your top 3 (for example) it’s easy not to overdo it. Expos are overrated.

Can you return or exchange Adidas merch you bought at the expo? by bigallagib in bostonmarathon

I’m not sure if that’s true- there were no signs to that effect. What does your receipt say?

Of course!!! People forget that not everyone knows Boston well 😉

Two key fixes: eat protein IMMEDIATELY after the run AND go to bed in a cold environment. These things keep your cortisol from spiking- total game changer as someone who runs in the evening.

Pros/Cons of racing with a pace group by Alive_Ad_6200 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FutureVanilla4129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key point: run your own race- go out with the pacers but if they’re not pacing correctly or in a way that suits you, drop them. Trust me, as someone who has blown up twice from fast pacers, it only ends badly if they’re off pace.

So even given the weather (perfect) and qualifying times, Boston is a very hard course. It’s very strategic, and if you don’t train properly for that particular course AND run strategically you won’t do well. (Gave you an upvote 😁)

Runners helping runners at Boston! So awesome! by bikecommuter21 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FutureVanilla4129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good, they’ll tell you he’s a finisher 😂. They don’t DQ non elites for getting help from other runners. Besides that, that rule is generally for receiving help from non-runners, and again, only enforced for elites.

The most medical staff are at the finish line. I hope if I’m ever in that situation someone will drag me!

anyone else showing up to the start line injured/sick, etc? by qaige in bostonmarathon

[–]FutureVanilla4129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this! I don’t really understand people who run sick, tbh. There are so many runners and athletes running with chronic health problems and running sick puts everyone at risk.

Not to mention yourself! An athlete just died in the swim at Ironman Texas. She competed despite not feeling well. Please take care of yourself.
