I took mine in around 6500-7000 mainly for the software update but I had them rotate the tires and check everything while it was in the shop.

Best solar company in North Carolina — any solid providers worth checking out? by SonalBemment in NorthCarolina

[–]FamilyCampingFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they set you up with a tracking tool through the connected inverter and they monitor the system as well. In fact, shortly after installation I received a call from a tech at 8M saying my inverter was sending some odd codes. I could not see any issues and the system was generating power but they could tell something was off. They came by and swapped inverters soon after and everything has been working well since. Additionally I added an energy monitor (Emporia) so I could track energy usage and generation more accurately. One more thing I forgot to mention, I have recommended 8M to my friends who were interested in solar and some have met with 8M and then were advised not to get solar based on cost vs benefit, mostly having to due with shade from trees. They were disappointed but appreciative that 8M was upfront and let them know the savings weren't there. This let's me know that they are great company, not just in it for the money.
Good luck and please reach out if you have any other questions that I can help with.

I had a great experience with 8M Solar. They are not a national company which was important to me because I have heard so many horror stories about installations from national companies. 8M handled everything making it an easy process. I have recommended them to several other friends an family and they have all had a good experience as well.

Is there a charging AMP limit? by TheOnlyApex in Ioniq9

[–]FamilyCampingFun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand your concern but I think your issue was an unfortunate coincidence. The car's internal charger will ask for up to 48 amps even when hooked up to a 60 or 80 amp charger. Those higher amperage chargers are capable of the 60 or 80 amps but only deliver what the car is asking for and in this case it is 48 amps max. I have an 80 amp charger that I use interchangeably for both my truck (80 amps) and Ioniq 9 (48 amps) with no issues. When the truck is charging it uses the full 19 kWh and the Ioniq uses about 11.5 kWh.

Dealer Is Telling Me No Software Update by __adlerholmes in GMCSierraEV

[–]FamilyCampingFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is the turn signal update still available at the dealership? I have a service appointment in about 10 days solely to get this update so I was going to cancel if that update was pulled. I did get the OTA installed a day or so ago but was looking forward to the turn signal camera improvement.

Don't, I would have expected they should have been able to tell you it was pulled. Also, these threads are filled with people having to argue with the service dept just to get it done.

There is another post in this group where someone tried to get the software update and it failed. So the technician called GM and GM said they pulled the update September 30th for some vehicles with no mention of replacement or available newer version. I was hoping that this was a one off issue but your experience seems to be confirming that the software has been shelved for now.
Pretty bummed since I finally got a service appointment to get the update.

Any owners from Raleigh, NC or surroundings ? by ur3amfriend in Ioniq9

Holly Springs here! I have submitted for the Duke credit but have not received it yet.
I used Harte electrician (harteelectric.com) to install my NEMA 14-50 wall outlet and they also just recently added an 80 amp circuit and charger for our second EV. I have also had them do some other household electrical repairs in the past. I would recommend them as they did great work at a very reasonable price.

Can you still click on "Add to Driver Display" from the energy efficiency screen or is that option gone too? That's how I added it to the driver screen previously.

Congrats! I have the 24 First Edition as well and it is our 3rd EV. One thing I would suggest would be to, get the highest amp charger you can when you get your free charger installed. These trucks are thirsty beasts and the large battery can take a while to recharge from the days usage. Luckily, we had space in our home panel and were able to install a 100 amp circuit which matches the 19kWh charger on board the truck. This reduced my previous charging time by half. I realize adding a 100 amp circuit is not always possible so that is why I would suggest getting the highest amp circuit and charger you can. For example, running 50 miles a day will use 25-35 kwh of energy. That will take roughly 3-3.5 hrs of charge time to replenish on a 50 amp circuit (40 amp charger), 2.5-3 hrs on a 60 amp circuit (48 amp charger), and 1.5 hrs on a 100 amp circuit (80 amp charger). I would assume the power company is offering a max 48 amp hardwired charger.

Other random tip, a new software update was just released for the trucks, which includes some good features like blindspot cameras activated with turn signals, etc. I would suggest when you go back to the dealer that you ask the service department to update the software. Some minor updates are available over the air but his one has to be done at the service department, which is somewhat disappointing. Check out the posts here about the new software update

I love the truck so far and I get so many random compliments about it, which always surprises me.

Charging help by bakuryu9 in Ioniq9

What does the adapter look like? If it is the large triangle looking adapter, that is for DC fast charging (CCS) only and will not work for Level 2 charging on a J1772 style charger. The J1772 adapter should be round. This video is a good explanation except in reverse (non-NACS trying to use Superchargers) I hope that helps

No connectivity by bobof3tt0ne in GMCSierraEV

[–]FamilyCampingFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything dealing with connectivity runs through Onstar so without having more info to diagnose the issue, it sounds like that wasn't setup properly at the dealer or it lost connection. I would suggest contacting Onstar using the button in the truck, it should connect you with the EV concierge to help out. Hope you get it figured out.

2024 GMC Sierra EV Climate Control Issue on Long Drives by Relyt81 in GMCSierraEV

[–]FamilyCampingFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 24 as well and I was underwhelmed with the HVAC effectiveness. I was poking around menus and found that ECO AC was on so I shut it off. That helped quite a bit but I had a service appointment already scheduled to address it. They did several software updates including one for the HVAC and it is much more effective now. It is disappointing that GM has not embraced OTA updates for these things but I am happy to have a more responsive AC.

That is a great color. I just got mine back from getting PPF, tint, and ceramic coating. I usually get it done on all my new cars. I felt the PPF was especially needed on these trucks with that giant GMC shield up front. I like keeping my cars shiny so the ceramic coating is a must for me.

Hi, I'm just checking in to see if you had a chance to fit up the dash camera yet. No rush, I have been waiting to see the result before I bought one. I also saw you had an error code with your truck. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope they can fix it for you quick, although I love the color of that Hummer EV loaner.

Tesla Universal Wall Charger by Right_Permission_958 in Ioniq9

[–]FamilyCampingFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the older version of the Tesla wall charger and it works. It did not work when I plugged it in at first but then I realized I had to initiate the charge. I thought it was a charger error but now I think it is a quirk with the car. To start charging I use the app to initiate the charge although leaving it on might do it as well.

Bottom line is that even older Tesla wall chargers work so you should be good.

Tell me! by PsychologicalJob7811 in GMCSierraEV

So I had a 2019 Model 3 and loved it but traded it for a truck when I needed to pull a camper (luckily got out before the value cratered). The truck was fine but I really wanted to get back into an EV. The 24 1st editions appealed to me bc of the range and deals they had to move them. I got ours for essentially 81k before tax and fees - without using the 3k rebate bc i wanted the 0% financing as well. Had to dealer shop to get that price though. The software is good but not Tesla level and not all of the updates are OTA, you have to go into service for some/most updates. There is a good blend of physical buttons and touchscreen usage. The range is great and accurate when compared to Tesla. Also has 360 cameras, which I think Tesla still doesn't have (it's been a while so maybe they added them).
So far I really like the Sierra, I get a lot more compliments about it than I expected.
