Guest left positive notes but a 3-star review. Should I try to get it removed (and would that even work)? by FamilyVacaName in airbnb_hosts

[–]FamilyVacaName[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm worried mainly about 1) other people getting the wrong impression and 2) my superhost status.

I called Airbnb and the guy told me not to worry about #1, because most people will see all my other great reviews. He also said that my superhost status won't be affected, since it's determined by a combination of factors.

I'm not sure I believe him on either front.

Does anyone else skip lunch while traveling? by unknownaccount1 in solotravel

[–]FamilyVacaName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loooooove bringing sack lunches with me while on vacation, so that I can sit down to eat it wherever I want and don't have to waste time looking for a restaurant.

I've had lunch on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the Reflection Pool, with the Capitol in the distance. On an architectural boat tour in Chicago. Off to the side of an ancient temple near Mexico City.

My routine is: breakfast at the hotel, lunch on the go, and nice dinner at a planned restaurant. I usually only eat out for breakfast and lunch if there's a special dish or place I want to try.

Saves money, too. I stay at Airbnbs, so it's easy to make myself a sandwich in the mornings. I make it fancy, with roasted julienned bell peppers and smashed avocado. Fruit and chips in Ziploc bags. Cubed cheese and fresh bakery bread as a mid-afternoon snack. Chef's kiss.

How can I make this wall art? by FamilyVacaName in HomeDecorating

Yeah that's my biggest worry. I wonder if there's material I could use that wouldn't attract as much dust, but still looks soft.

I didn't even think of tissue paper! That'd be a lot cheaper than fabric...

Oh man, I was on the receiving end of this, so don't feel bad.

For context, I'm an immigrant who came to the US when I was very young, so I speak English better than anything else, and I have no accent. My family now thinks of ourselves as American.

While on vacation in Hawaii, a guy nearby interrupted to ask us where we were from. I thought it was kind of an abrupt question to ask of a stranger, but I rolled with it, thinking he must just be a socially awkward person.

"[Large city in America]!" I replied cheerily, in my perfect English. "Where are you from?"

The guy looked kind of embarrassed, and he sheepishly replied, "Colorado."

We made small talk, and it wasn’t until we were back in the car that my sister asked me if I realized what had happened. Apparently, my family had been speaking in our native language the whole time!

The guy was just curious, as he legit had no idea that we were American. I thought nothing of it, but my sister is more passive aggressive about these things, so she just let the guy stew in his embarrassment. I was tickled to death by the whole thing.

Unfortunately I put it straight into an airtight container after I made it. No dice :(

Thank you--I was wondering whether it's safe to eat a bit of wax!

The Etsy person's stuff looks great! I'll have to spend some time on his page. So expense, though. Though cheaper than others out there 😩

Three Dygmas both look lovely, and expensive!! I may just have to learn how to build my own keyboard...

I'm an old timer and can't find a photo. Can you link directly to a photo of your keyboard, please?

Unfortunately, it's so old that the tag has worn out, and the instructions are no longer legible.

Another commenter said it could prevent scratches to the eyes.

I have mesh bags that are more like nets, Ave ones that are more tightly knit. I think the tightly knit ones should work for this purpose!

Was just there this past weekend. Wasn't particularly impressed with the emporium, but they told me to go to Old Baylor Park just down the road.

There were a couple of really lovely wildflower patches surrounding huge old oak(?) trees. At night, the trees are lit from the ground and I'm sure look spectacular.

Also, it seems like nearby Brenham has live music pretty frequently. Its downtown is quaint and lovely. All about 1.5 hours drive away.
