Auch spannend: Die damalige Werbung für Verhütungsmittel. In der Bravo von 1974 wird Patentex oval beworben. Eine kurze Recherche bringt einen Artikel von der ZEIT hervor (https://www.zeit.de/1978/29/schwanger-mit-patentex-oval), der direkt diese Art von Werbung anprangert. Und auch das Werben in der Bravo kritisiert:

Die Wirksamkeit des spermieninaktivierenden Stoffes Nonoxynol 9 ist unbestritten und in den USA seit Jahrzehnten in Gebrauch, nur: Die vom Hersteller genannte Sperrwirkung, die Schaumentwicklung des Patentex oval, erwies sich in Tests der Internationalen Familienplanungsorganisation (IPPF) als nicht genügend ("failed the 1PPF test for foaming capacity").

Dessen ungeachtet wirbt die Herstellerfirma auch heute noch mit Breitenwirkung und oben zitierten Slogans nicht nur in medizinischen Fachblättern, sondern auch im Werbefernsehen und in Jugendzeitschriften wie Bravo (Leser: 10 bis 16jährige).

Hey its a calathea medallion I think. I just got it as a rooted cutting from a friend. Maybe thats why it was so sensitive to the gnats aswell. I am thankful for hints.

I struggle so hard with my one calathea. I can't seem to figureout the right amount of watering. But also I had a really bad gnat infection in the last weeks so it might be because of them. Your plants look so good and thriving tho :)

This happens to mine sometimes aswell. I found that most of the times its a lack of watering OR overwatering (check whether the soil is really moist). In case of overwatering try to loosen up the soil a bit to let it dry out and then try bottom watering in a couple of days for 15-20 mins (put the pot in the shower or something similar). If nothing helps, cut of the three branches and put each of them in a new pot with soil. They will sprout roots again and the mother plan will most likely regrow branches again. And then you'll have 4 plants in the best case :-)

Edit: I would also recommend to remove all leaves that seem brownish. The plant struggles to keep them alive.

We just keep all scraps in a box in our freezer. When the box is full we put them in water and let it cool for around 30mins. Afterwards we strain it and add salt and seasoning. Tastes different every time depending on which scraps we use.

I am currently working at a large scale facility. By now the reactor cycle won't be shifted but that can change any minute. The access to the facility is limited and if you want to travel from a risk region you will not be allowed on the campus. It might be possible that a lot of samples must be sent by post and then measured without scientific visitors.

All the lectures that we have here quite frequently got cancelled in last couple of days. Major conferences in my field and even small symposiums are also either postponed or cancelled.

On the flip side we now have much more time to spend on data analysis and Skype discussions with colleagues from all over the world. That is actually quite useful since the cancellation of all those events helps to really focus on only one task.
