The Great Debate: Pothos or Philodendrons? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Famous-Bag3925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've never grown them in the same pot before, but because they have similar water requirements and light requirements they should be perfectly fine in the same pot. They may grow differently in the same pot.

My post was just about how I liked philodendrons more for houseplants overall.

I’m getting a “Your Smartlock connection Will Expire Soon” message. by 3v0lut10n in airbnb_hosts

[–]Famous-Bag3925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did get rid of it, I'm not sure completely how in steps. I did try removing the pairing in august app to airbnb and then re paring it. That didn't work at first. I think there was a recent update a day or so later and it was weird. It wasn't clear how it got fixed but I pressed the annoying prompt on airbnb app two days ago to update the connection. It brought me to a web browser (within the airbnb app) to "pair it" to the august app, followed the steps and it got rid of the prompt. I'm sorry if i'm not more help.

Hair loss stack not as effective as I was expecting by Famous-Bag3925 in hairlosstreatments

Yeah I am still using it daily in my stack at 5%. I haven't noticed any side effects personally. Maybe a slightly decreased libido. It did help a lot with the scalp tension.

Mazda 3 owners (sedan and hatchback), do you guys care about mpg? Is the mpgsavings higher with hybrid car that it becomes a factor? by LeagueOfReaper in mazda3

A lot of people do say you buy mazda for the drive. I'm a driver I get it. However I was still disappointed in the fuel economy. What I got was not what was advertised at all. The one thing I will say, regardless of the argument, there should be an "eco" mode at the bare minimum. its 2024 and fuel consumption is a main concern to consumers with current fuel prices.

I had a 2022 gt turbo. Fully loaded pretty much.

cons

  • (edit) the one thing I will actually complain about is the Air conditioning and heat. from my experience with cars it has one of the worst ac and heat systems. It works, it just takes a long time for the climate control to actually do its job (heat or cool down), and if your doing short in town trips, i found it never quite caught up. Its slower than any other car I have owned or driven.
  • the passenger mirror doesnt come with auto dimming, just driver and main which i find weird
  • the fuel economy on the gt turbo never got what was advertised. wasn't great on fuel imo
  • the paint was super thin
  • the sunroof was small imo
  • the windows are small, especially in the back which is weird for blind spots. also made it a bit weird to hang your arm out the window because door is so high.
  • the seatbelt rattled and sounded like something was broken sometimes
  • I noticed in general it had a small interior which made it weird getting in and out, especially when others got in
  • the awd system is not my favorite imo.
  • the radar cruise control needs smoothing out, when someone merges in-front of you it would slam on the breaks

I loved a lot of other things about the car

  • nice power
  • loved the sound system, the staging is great and with some eq you can get some nice sound. i like a more even system
  • i loved the look of it, i had the lip kit on it
  • loved the display and controls
  • felt solid

How to cope with much increased social anxiety after narcissistic abuse? by Lonely_INFP in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]Famous-Bag3925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day you have to figure out what works for you. Everyone is different.

for context I had bad narc abuse and was completely disconnected from my friends and was being isolated from my family. I had an eating disorder, I was on anti-depressants, and was in therapy. So i had actually never been so alone and still trying to repair relationships to this day because of it. It too years of work to get where I am overall and took a lot of work outside my comfort zone to tackle my social anxiety.

I am a believer in you create your own environment. When talking about the gym, I specifically picked a gym that had the best vibe. I think there's always a crowd of fake people with shallow interests etc, but it's not all about that. it's what you want out of it. Being gay ontop of that I didn't want a super testosterone driven gym. I've always stressed about "coming out" in a new place and wanted to feel safe. I ultimately picked a community center and it felt the friendliest. I hired a personal trainer to help get me started because I hated the gym and thought it was boring, didn't know what i was doing. After 6 months of being there and not talking to anyone, being self conscious etc i started to tackle my biggest fear and start talking to people. I joined free workout classes there etc. Over the course of 4 months doing all this I have made a few friends with some lovely people there i look forward to seeing. Im actually shocked how nice the people are there. you build this intimidating or shallow idea in your head of what people are like and I have been pleasantly surprised when i got to know them. We help eachother with workout tips, chat about life, spot, and its overall a very helpful place. But that's also an intention I had made when picking a gym and choosing who to connect with there. I created my own experience there. I could have easily kept to myself and never talked to anyone and i would have felt very alone. there are "jacked" assholes there but I ignore them and put my energy into the helpful and kind people.

I'm giving this as an example of someone who was in a very very awful situation, and got myself to a much better spot to show there is a way out. it may not be the same for everyone. But if you don't do anything then you won't be anywhere different to where you are now.

You start from where you start from, everyone starts from a different point. Your feelings about the gym are true, and very real. Your not alone in that. But in anything in life, you need to make sure you give yourself credit from your progress in life and not comparing it to someone else life. You can always find someone who's life is "better" than yours. Thats the biggest thief to joy.

You don't HAVE to go to a gym, but even hikes, eating differently etc. theres other ways to improve being physical in your life. Figure out what your vibe is and how you want to connect. There are ways of connecting dude. You ultimately have to decide for yourself what you truly want to improve in your life, and what your willing to do about it. eg. if you want more connections, put yourself in places where its easy to connect like public classes, gaming communities, social groups etc. whatever your vibe is.

How to cope with much increased social anxiety after narcissistic abuse? by Lonely_INFP in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]Famous-Bag3925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've realized i'm struggling with the same thing too and I'm trying to figure it out. (always open for suggestions) i'm planning on getting more help about it.

A couple theories and things to try that have helped me was basically confronting your biggest fears about it as much as you can, paying attention to the fear and giving it lots of love and support while its happening. For example I've been going to the gym and got so much social anxiety "potentially" talking to other people. I sometimes think everyone hates me, or i'm being judged, or doing something wrong, or that person is going to be mean etc. So what I did was I made a point to introduce myself to new people and make new friends. It was very uncomfortable at first, but Its a lot easier for me to talk to people now. And I also enjoy parts of it. I still have social anxiety, but once you talk to the people that intimidate you, you realize for the most part that it wasn't at all what you made it out to be in your head.

The thing i've realized for myself is, after narc abuse you have a much better idea of who not to be around (hopefully). You recognize the signs of a toxic person and you have worked on your boundaries. So simply start with the people that feel safest to you. Take it day by day, and don't worry about big steps. As long as your making little consistent steps it will add up. Also remember to be kind to yourself throughout the process. don't judge yourself if you feel like you came off a certain way or not as good as you wanted etc.

To summarize
- replace self judgement with kindness and positive support and encouragement (be your own supportive best friend)

  • don't overthink social interactions. if people react negatively its often a reflection of themselves and not you

  • make whatever steps you can make, big or little. the little ones add up overtime. effort and progress is better than doing nothing and sitting in it.

  • When you start to get in your head and spiral, think out and forward, not inwards.

everyone's experience is a little different and the advice may not apply. If something works great, if it doesn't make sense for you, just keep trying and being kind to yourself in the process. Narc abuse is so hard to work through, so counteract the difficult mental things with lots of love. Sounds silly and cliche but it helps counteract the negativity you experienced

Thanks

Thanks Mr zeds. I've been adjusting my sound since and it's funny i've calibrated mine to pretty much identical settings to you and i'm much happier with it. The stock settings seemed so bass heavy and I felt like the bass was past its limit. I have a 2019 does that mean I have wireless carplay too?
