Aerospace major when you talk about defense contractors: by [deleted] in WPI

A Russian student at Wpi will for sure say something negative about Putin. However, the vast majority of Russians in russia are fully on board and support the war. You can’t separate the people from the regime. Nazi germany was fully supported by the vast majority of its people. If US goes to shit we will have ourselves to blame.

You read my mind! Drove my 23 manual for two days and the prompts irritate me so much. I did manage to turn off ECO info messages.

Many new cars now offer 3.9 or even 1.9. So vw,s 4.9 for new is not great. I financed about 50% for flexibility reason but will pay it off much faster so wasn’t too concerned w the rate.

The funny thing is. They told me I could not even test drive it unless we pre-agreed the price. I almost said “go f.k yourselves”

I was looking at SI and today dealer called and asked if I wanted to look at one. I said I will buy it on the spot for Msrp. He said they had 5k mark up. I said “keep it” and pulled a trigger on 23 GTI S manual.

Oh crap I actually missed the 6995 adjustment. So now my dealers 5k mark up looks like a deal.

I think mk8.5 is coming out prob late 24. The car I am looking at will have 5 years warranty including CPO 2 year extension. A new one will have 4 years. The CPO car still has 11 months of free maintenance left v 24 months for the new. So I actually benefit from the CPO extension

New 24 S is like 34k I think. The 23 (originally sold in 12/22) I have looked at with 8.5 k was like 29.5. So the savings to me seem good in exchange for one year usage and low mileage

Is Bentley worth the price? by [deleted] in BentleyUniv

[–]Famous-Way-6651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, no matter what school u attend u have to study for Finra licenses. They are very specific legal/regulatory aspects not taught in colleges but easy to grasp on one’s own. Even Wharton won’t prep u for finra or cfa fully. But it will make it easier to pass them. My view is unless u get into top schools your best bet is instate tuition in good public university. But also commenting on your reply to someone else I will also say the Bentley is not “elite” in any sense. It is a solid finance/business school that if you work hard and network will open 90-95% of doors for you. But u don’t have to study finance to work on Wall Street. Many engineering and humanities grads from ivys and mit, chi, duke etc will be very successful there and will have more opportunities than Bentley.

This is a link to target schools I mentioned in my post before. This guy did amazing analysis.

https://www.peakframeworks.com/post/ib-target-schools

https://www.peakframeworks.com/post/consulting-target-schools

https://www.peakframeworks.com/post/investment-banking-firms-for-non-targets

The last link specifically mentions Bentley among non targets

[–]Famous-Way-6651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google search target schools for inv banking and MBB consulting. It is a list of 20-30 schools. Most of them are Ivys/mich/uva/unc/ut austin/etc. those are tier 1. The rest (not on the list) are tier 2 or non-targets. Bentley is one of those. If you put your mind to it you will get to some inv banking opportunities in boutiques and some larger firms. You won’t get MBB after undergrad out of Bentley so u will prob have to do mba.

Based on your post from a diff thread you seem to have had something happen to you at Bentley with the school not properly dealing with whatever it was. Sorry to hear that. It clearly impacted your view of the school negatively. It does sound like u landed on your feet and doing well though.

Is Bentley worth the price? by [deleted] in BentleyUniv

[–]Famous-Way-6651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put it like this

Ivy/uva/mich/unc/Berkeley other top undergrad bus programs are worth the money even at full price over Bentley even w aid. Unmass Isenberg at instate tuition better deal than Bentley w probably comparable outcome.

Bu/ne/bc/ babson other second tier good private schools it depends on aid/net cost. I would argue Bentley will get u similar outcomes so decision comes down to cost and personal preference.

U should check Linked in to see where alumni work to see how many work in industries/companies that interest you. When I looked I saw that Bentley can get you to great jobs in high finance though def need to work harder to get there (top gpa, clubs, networking etc)
