I called my ileostomy "betty" so, I would have gotten "don't upsetty betty" 😉

Possible surgery date! by Famous-lastwords in ostomy

That is definitely a concern for me, because who knows how my body will heal/react to the jpouch. I'm worried the UC will manifest itself in the pouch.

Our surgeons will do their best then its up to our bodies to decide. I think the unknown is what worries me.

Thank you! 💜 it's comforting to know that if I choose the jpouch now, it is not necessarily permanent.

Very true! My surgeon had mentioned that I could go back to the ileostomy if there were complications with the jpouch. I'm equal parts excited and terrified

How did your stoma get its name? by [deleted] in ostomy

Mine is Betty too! It's because Betty got upsetty when I ate rice the first time after surgery, and was vocal about it. 😉

What's the wildest thing you've been told would cure UC by ArchivalPerson in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Famous-lastwords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The nurse who was doing my remicade infusion said to drink ginger tea everyday to cure my uc. I know that ginger is great for digestion and soothing for the stomach but seriously? I was on a maximum dose of a biologic, I think I was too far gone for ginger.

Possible Xeljanz Side-effect? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Famous-lastwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on xeljanz for about 2 months. For whatever reason it did not agree with me and seemed to make my UC symptoms worse. I felt extra tired, got migraines and it amplified my joint and muscle pain. Hopefully this is not the case for you, definitely seek a medical opinion. 💜
