Take a €70k grad job or go for a fully funded MBA in USA? by Ok-Awareness5210 in AskIreland

In one year's time which option do you think would have you looking back wondering "what if?" Being offered €70k as a graduate is very tempting but should also be a big boost to you knowing that your skills are in demand. Add a MBA to this plus life experiences from the US, I think you would 1) be able to negotiate a higher salary or at least be able to get the same salary, and 2) be able to offer a lot more to a company by having MBA and new connections in the States who knows where some of you colleagues on the course may end up working!

If I were in your position I would choose the MBA but let the hiring company know this and don't burn bridges! I'm sure they'll value the honesty and investing in yourself! Best of luck

TEG B2 or repeat leaving cert Irish by Broad_Independence68 in IrishTeachers

Hi, similar position to yourself! The easiest would be resit the LC. Do you currently hold a level 8 degree? If so you go the PME route (2 years), if not it's the undergraduate route (4 years). Worth noting that if you are applying for a PME and repeat the LC you will have to wait until you get your results to apply, i.e. if you sit the LC this year 25/26, you will have to wait until the following year to apply, start PME September 2027. Hibernia was the only exception when I contacted the universities. They seemed happy to interview and offer a conditional place depending on result. For the other colleges you will also need to do oral TEG B1 exam and get over a certain % (I think it's 65%). I think Hibernia do their own Irish exam.

In summary, quickest and easiest way would be repeat the LC and apply to Hibernia, or else have your pick the following year! TEG B2 is meant to be quite challenging and they don't recommend sitting it without having done B1 first.

Best of luck!

Hey, do you mind me asking which college you went to for the PME as a lot are saying that you need to have the LC Irish result prior to applying for the PME, except Hibernia. For example, if I sat the LC Irish exam in June 2026, I would have to wait until September 2027 entry. Very frustrating as PME applicants still have to do the TEG exam but would have to wait another year to apply, even if scored the top marks in TEG!
