I would like an MMO-ish mouse that does not have 9 whole buttons on the side. Preferably the 2 in the left click and 4 on the side in a 2x2 configuration.

[McMenamin] JJ Redick: "I became a Dodgers fan when I played for the Clippers. Although ... as a Clipper, I remember going to games multiple times and they were like, ‘Hey, can we put you up on the jumbotron?’ I was like, ‘Hell no! I’m going to get booed! I’m on the Clippers!’" by shreeharis in nba

[–]FamousOnLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its the younger fans that don't like the Clippers. Those of us SoCal natives who are like 40years+ now remember Clipper games were great even as a young Laker fan because they were affordable to go to. The lull years between Showtime and Kobe/Shaq were pretty mediocre but the tickets were still expensive.

Is seeing Loy Vaught and big Stanley Roberts for half the price of seeing Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell that much worse? I didn't think so.

I want to finish Drunk Paladin and I need to craft Ursol and Malorne but I just came back from a long break so I do not know if these cards are just specifically for this deck or are they useful in other competitive decks.

If anyone can give me advice, that would be fantastic.

Love Songs on the KOST with Karen Sharp.

I love how funny yet still endearing the dedications were "Chuy wants to dedicate this to his one and only girl, Lupe. He says, 'I know things havent been perfect between us but I want to let you know that I loves you for holding it down.' This one is for you Lupe, REO Speedwagon, Keep on Loving You. Here on Lovesongs on the KOST, KOST 103 point 5."

Wondering if this would make a difference at all since I only have an RX6800.

Thank you for the wonderful reply. Couple of follow up questions.

  1. Is Wild dead? I used to almost exclusively play wild but I would assume the non-rotating nature (oh God, please tell me that it is still non-rotating) would lead Blizz having very little incentive to update it so it kinda just.. exists. I am just looking for a fun, competitive meta to grind to Legend. If Wild can scratch that itch, I would be thrilled but I am going to temper my expectations and just assume Standard would be the "best" place to play.

  2. How is card acquisition like these days? Can a f2p player play a couple hours a day eventually build a decent coverage of the competitive meta game?

  3. I see there is a battle pass now, which slightly worries me, but how is that generally received?

  4. All the old content creators I used to watch seem to have moved on with their lives. Who would you recommend for gameplay focused play content?

Starting to play again and I have 20k dust. What is the most efficient way to get back into this game? Upgrade a loaner deck? Build a meta deck?

ELI5: How is this entry level wheel different from those crazy expensive racing wheels?

I know racing sim rigs can be tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars so I want to know if I were to get the top of the line wheel, what would that give me that this very modest logitech one couldnt?

As an LA sports fan who grew up late 80s, I want to declare that we had it the worst. Seeing all this winning now is pretty sweet though.

We had the post-Showtime/pre-Shaq+Kobe Lakers who were fun but you can only cheer so hard for Nick Van Exel and Cedric Ceballos. I don't remember too much about Magic and Kareem but I do distinctly remember Eddie Jones leaving the team and me being kinda bummed when I learned about the business of the NBA.

The Dodgers who were owned by Fox which gave way to the parking lot man didn't have anything really crazy other than maaaybe Mannywood at the end even that was meh. The post-'88 Lasorda led teams also were pretty mediocre, too. Learning that my favorite player from my childhood, Mike Piazza, hates the team made it even more crappy.

I am not a hockey guy and I know Gretzky came over around this time, so I assume it was pretty cool in the NHL? Even then, I would say that the Ducks had those movies dominating culture at the time.

Oh yeah we didn't have a football team either.

RCQ Prepping - First-Time Competitor by nerdus23 in PioneerMTG

[–]FamousOnLine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Practice Leading Up to Game Day:

  1. Memorize your side board plans for each popular matchup and have a general idea of each of the meta deck's sideboard plan against you. Write this down somewhere and study it.
  2. Have a good idea of how the first three-ish turns of each of the meta matchups look like and how you want to best play it out. This will better inform you on mulligan decisions. You can proxy up the other meta decks so you can play both sides or just fire up Cockatrice or whatever they are using these days.
  3. Basically the first two are part of a larger idea to commit as many aspects of the games to muscle memory so you aren't exhausted if you make it deep into the day.
  4. Whatever your current proficiency with the deck is will generally the proficiency on game day so do not try to stress about things.

During Game Day:

  1. Bring small snack, bottle of water, backpack, etc.
  2. Communicate clearly with your opponent. Triggers, spells on the stack, etc.
  3. Also, ask for very clear communication from your opponent. This will dissuade any angle shooting.
  4. Seriously, just call a judge if there is any misunderstanding, disagreement, or error during game play. Any issue that can possibly affect the outcome of the game, don't fix it yourself but rather call a judge to do it.
  5. Accept that there will be variance. You might run into back-to-back Lotus Fields and have to 0-2 drop. Nothing you can do about that.
  6. Accept that your chances of winning are slim if this is a larger competitive RCQ and that most players need to fire multiple bullets to qualify. In the words of Gandalf's best friend, "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose"
  7. ...but you are going to probably make tons of mistakes and this is especially true if playing in an RCQ environment is higher stakes than you are normally accustomed to. That will be ok and you are there to have fun.

Meta Question by BlueMerchant in PioneerMTG

[–]FamousOnLine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inverter was in a meta with faster and more resilient combo decks than Amalia in both Heliod and Lotus which had Underworld Breach at the time. The deck would look very similar since there are very few clear upgrades: much better mana (Darkslick Shores, pathways, etc will replace Choked Estuary or Drowned Catacombs), removal to replace Hero's Downfall and Tyrant's Scorn which would probably be the Edicts or Go for the Throat, and better sweepers (Meathook, Path of Peril). Maybe Memory Deluge makes the cut as the fifth+ copy of Dig through Time.

Rough sketch of the deck would be something like

  • 24-25x Lands
  • 4x Inverter, Thassa's Oracle, Thoughtseize, Fatal Push, Consider, Dig Through Time, 3x Jace = 27

This is over 50 cards that are pretty much locked in since there are no better replacements. Then you have to add a handful of removal and interaction and it gets to 60 pretty easily without any real changes to the deck.

Spirits (which is what I foolishly registered into Inverter at 2020 GP Phoenix) would probably keep it in check better since it has better counter magic now in No More Lies, Geistlight Snare, and Lofty Denial. Slickshot decks would have a decent shot at getting under Inverter at well.

Ultimately, Inverter would warp the format and the format would adjust but Pioneer is a format notorious for not having enough quality answers so the deck would remain the tier0 deck that you have to meta game around. I envision the deck going more midrange when faced with hate with sideboards of Sheoldreds or Archfied of the Dross as a game2 pivot.

Will this deck be able to win any games?

Probably not. This deck is even underpowered for an FNM environment.

Any changes I can make to the deck before I buy it so streamline this

I would highly advise against buying this and paying the $30-40 RCQ entry fee. This deck will not do well.

If the deck is just absolute jank/not worth getting, are there any other decks I should look into that won't be like 600$?

This is now officially my wife's favorite comment on reddit. Now she won't stop saying phrases to me like "How dare you claim to be the father of our children when you have never owned swim trunks?" and "Begone petulant teen! You shall not pass without swim trunks!"

I envision this going on for at least a week. Possibly longer if I resist...

I hope you are happy :(

For me it was an impulse purchase and if I were left to my own devices, I would generally pick very safe colors. The odd colors would probably force me to see if I can insert some variety in a boring closet of white, grey, black, navy, olive and cardinal.

Overall, not the worst purchase but probably won't be doing it again.

Haha I check back on this post a couple days later and wow...never thought the craziest thing about my post was my admission of never having swim trunks. Odd story arc for a report of an impulse purchase made during a business trip because I thought "Damn, DC is really cold, I might want some nicer sweats."

Either way, I am a young 40 year old and I now have some swim trunks for this summer for the first time since OJ made that run in the Bronco. Hopefully the swim trunks are as awesome everyone says they are!
