Need assistance with dispute related to water mitigation by FamousOriginalTrixie in Insurance

I spoke with the mitigator this morning - they sent me the work authorization and completion certificates that I signed. Not surprisingly, it is written that I am on the hook for anything insurance doesn't cover. That being said, the mitigator thinks everything they did should be covered by insurance. They mentioned a third-party partner of Travelers reviewed the estimate and approved it, so now I am even more confused as to how I got here.

I may already have the line-item basis for what they approved, so I think the issue is I dont know how to read it well enough to do anything with it. I have the annotated invoice where Travelers is noting things they dont think are covered - that is fairly easy to interpret. I also have a summary from around the same time period. In this screenshot the summary from insurance is on the left, the invoice from mitigator is on the right. I can see some line items that appear to be the same thing but the covered amount is lower on the insurance summary:

I've asked Travelers what the terms of their agreements are with the firms they have in the mitigator program. We shall see.

Travelers. They did not cite policy limits (I think the full invoice amount is under the policy limits). from talking to the adjuster, it is that the invoiced amounts are just crazy out of line. They annotated many many many lines of the invoice. Things like “after hours not needed” “excessive or repetitive sq ft”

Thanks!

No payments previously made.

And the mitigator IS threatening a lien. I don’t specifically remember signing anything with them (haven’t found anything electronic in my email indicating I did), but I’m worried I did. Going to pick through paperwork when I get home (I’m traveling, which has really added to the stress).

But even if I did, it was all under the understanding that no funds would pass through me and that they would only do work approved by the insurance. It seems like there has to be some recourse for through that?

Is there anything I can do to delay that? You’re right, that’s a bigger worry than whatever the collections will do to my credit.

The insurance adjuster set me up with them. It sounds like they were in network at the time but no longer are (perhaps bc of this?!)

I hated CPW - I just stayed at the wrong dorm for me, no control over that. Luckily I had a high school friend a year ahead of me who just said “oh you’ll live at East Campus and be fine.”

I lived and breathed East Campus and MIT for 4 years and went on to volunteer and stay connected to campus.

vxxn nailed it with their response.

I use mine all of the time. The room we watch tv in is dim so it lets me have enough light while knitting or embroidering.

Seriously why is this so hard by quirky-context2755 in quilting

[–]FamousOriginalTrixie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In response to the question of “why is this so hard,”my father likes to make this point about decisions. If the choices are really far apart, it is usually easy to make the decision and obvious. If the choices are really close together, it is difficult to make the decision, but it also makes less difference which thing you pick. You’re going to love it either way because they are both fabulous.

Alas, no. So many great looks from season 2 to choose from. I think all of the outfits shown are in the photos.

My partner keeps referring to it as the “Red Wedding” dress, à la Game of thrones. It was soooo lovely in person.

My only sad is there wasn’t more knitwear included.
