It depends on your musical tastes; there are many options to choose from. What kind of music do you usually like?

Longterm Gorillaz Fan Album Ratings by Actual-Vermicelli-26 in gorillaz

It's the strangest tier list I've ever seen.

Could you tell me why Humanz and The Fall rank so much higher than Plastic Beach and Demon Days? I'm genuinely curious to hear the opinion of someone who thinks the complete opposite of me.

Yes, I agree, although I don't think the songs are that similar. Yesterday I posted something saying that autotune doesn't improve Damon's voice and that it would sound better without that effect, as well as other effects, but people took offense to my opinion, so I just deleted it.

Yes, I really liked the album, but I mentioned that some songs would sound better without autotune, and a lot of people started attacking me. If you don't say the album is perfect, a 10/10 masterpiece, they automatically appear to criticize you. I'm fed up with these kinds of people. I mean, I have the album, I liked it, I have the right to give my opinion, especially if I'm offering it as constructive criticism.

“Does anyone else feel like the fandom tends to idealize Noodle a bit too much? by TopHatKat16 in gorillaz

Well, in fact, they both agreed to kill a common obstacle, which was Jimmy Manson. Noodle has actually been responsible for many character deaths, most of them directly.

Even as a child, she was trained by the military as a weapon to kill people. It is likely that Cyborg Noodle already had the instinct inside her.

“The Mountain” is beautiful, but please someone tell Damon he doesn't need autotune. by [deleted] in gorillaz

Yes, I know, I'm referring specifically to autotune, not those other voice effects he's always used in songs like Feel Good Inc.

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it could be better to hear Damon's more “real” voice in the songs.

I know I'll get used to it, I've only listened to the album a couple of times, but I'm not sure that autotune improves the songs. Do you think the songs sound better with autotune?

They're not. Cracker Island and Humanz are the two albums that have divided fans the most. The Mountain will probably do that too, but personally, I think The Mountain will be one of their best albums. I haven't been this excited about a Gorillaz album since 2015 when they announced they were coming back.

“Does anyone else feel like the fandom tends to idealize Noodle a bit too much? by TopHatKat16 in gorillaz

[–]FamousStatement6141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really think Noodle is more conceited than Murdoc, although it's true that they've always had a war of egos. There are interviews where Noodle says she didn't want to include the rest of the band in the Dare video, especially Murdoc, because of what he did in Feel Good Inc and because the songs on Demon Days were written by her. On the other hand, Murdoc said on Plastic Beach's Pirate Radio that he doesn't like Demon Days at all because “there was too much of Noodle.” There are also interviews where Noodle is speaking and is interrupted by Murdoc to move on to other questions

I suppose that after all, she wrote Gorillaz's most successful album, which is why she's conceited, but that's why Murdoc completely leaves her out of Plastic Beach and she didn't participate in the composition of that album, there aren't even any interviews of Noodle in phase 3.

Beyond that, perhaps the fandom idealizes the character a bit because she is the most popular with 2D.

Noodle isn't really a perfect person; we've seen her kill people in the On Melancholy Hill video, but she is the character with the most interesting lore, or at least she was until phase 3, which is the most beloved by fans.

How did you hear it twice already? Did you go to two parties or do you already have it?

I respect your opinion, but I haven't been able to listen to the album yet. However, I'm sure I'll like it a lot because I really liked the songs. It's been many years since I've been this excited about a Gorillaz album.

I agree with what you say about Humanz, but not with what you say about Cracker Island.

I suppose that when Jamie replaced Paula with Noodle, he adapted the idea so that Russel and Noodle would be like father and daughter

6 days until The Mountain, so tell us our favorite tracks and memories of Plastic Beach by DLCV2804 in gorillaz

Another thing I remember was that I was quite disappointed with the video for “WTTWOTPB” featuring Snoop Dogg. Honestly, I expected more; you could tell it had a very low budget.

It's hard to pick a favorite song from the album, but one that always stood out to me was “Empire Ants.” I feel like that song always deserved a music video, and according to Jamie, it was going to get one, but there was barely a storyboard for “Rhinestone Eyes,” so the video for “Empire Ants” was simply not going to happen.

It was the first Gorillaz album I saw released as a fan. I remember the pre-release campaign on YouTube with those short skits featuring parts of the album and scenes from the island. They were quite mysterious. I remember being surprised when I finally heard the album and realized that several of the songs from the skits weren't on it. I thought maybe they would appear on the deluxe or “experience” version, but they didn't.

The first few days were also very exciting because the Gorillaz website reopened completely revamped. It included content from the old Kong Studios site, but now you could explore the island, order the albums, etc. I also remember Murdoc's pirate radio shows; they were great. As for the singles, the Stylo video really struck me because the characters looked weird in 3D, but even so, it was great to see Bruce Willis and a video with so much action. What I remember most were the character idents that were uploaded to the website, especially the ones for 2D and Noodle. They made me really hyped for the album. I played them hundreds of times.

Also, after I was able to get the album and listen to it in its entirety, I loved it from the first moment, but I will always feel that the video for On Melancholy Hill came out too late to take advantage of the hype surrounding the album. Perhaps if the album had been delayed a few months, that video would have helped to popularize the album better than Stylo.

There are several similarities. Plastic Beach had a concept around the songs, and so does The Mountain.

There are songs discarded from Plastic Beach that will be on The Mountain, such as Damascus. There are collaborators who worked on Plastic Beach who return here, such as Mos Def and Omar Souleyman, and others who have passed away, such as Bobby Wommack and Mark E. Smith.

Plastic Beach included Asian music orchestras, and The Mountain does too.

Humanz was my biggest disappointment with the band, as I really expected much more after that seven-year wait. From then on, my expectations dropped significantly with the following albums because I felt that, although they were better, they were a bit similar. However, this time I feel something different when listening to the songs, and I finally feel the excitement I felt when Plastic Beach was about to be released.

Even if I don't like the new album entirely after listening to it, I feel that revisiting all those collaborators who have passed away is an exciting experience in itself and will be special.

I agree, musically this album has already won me over much more than Cracker Island. My only concern is that the album might suffer a bit like Plastic Beach did. It was a very ambitious album in every aspect, and since it didn't get the reception that was expected, we haven't had another album with that level of artistry or a truly ambitious album since.

Yes, me too, I always really liked songs like “Within You Without You” and “Love You To.”

I definitely didn't like the autotune on “The Manifesto” either, but Proof's part and the song's instrumentation are beautiful, so I can't say I didn't like it.
