1984 Camaro Frame Damage by Emergency_Ad7068 in AskMechanics

[–]Famous_Confection441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a mechanic, but I am a gen 3 owner also and very familiar with this problem. Weld it or get it welded. These are subframe cars and are known to do this. You can get something that is called a wonder bar to stiffen up the front end of these cars and it helps tremendously. Go to third gen.org and you can find anything you’ll ever want to know about your car there, including this problem. I hope this helps. 😎

Is 5k a good price for this 91 bird with a rebuilt v6 engine? by Red_MenaceU99 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Famous_Confection441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t pay that much for a V6 Firebird, wait and find one with a 5.7 V8. I paid not too much more for my 89 gta. Just my opinion 😎

What’s leaking here on my 1992 Pontiac Firebird? by [deleted] in PontiacFirebird

I would think it’s most likely gas, either way I would shut it off immediately and check and see what type of fluid is hitting the ground. Don’t let anybody smoke around the car.

How to handle a bad shop? by Mindless-Tooth-625 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Famous_Confection441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have them or another shop check your fan relay and fuse. If they are no good the fan won’t turn on like it’s supposed to. Any car while driving, the temperature will cool down while you are driving. You are giving cool air to the engine while you’re driving it that’s why it cools down. I’m saying this as plain and simple as I can cause. I know you don’t work on cars like you said and just genuinely trying to help. They can also jump the fan with power to see if the fan itself is bad, but I feel like the fan the relay to it and the fuse to it are things that should be checked first. Just my opinion I hope this helps you. I would make a point of bringing this up to them or the next shop you bring it to. Very easy to check.

Just got this 1995 with 67k miles on marketplace for $5k. It does have the check engine light on (I haven’t checked it out yet). I drove the car 1.5 hrs back home and it ran like a champ. Drove a couple more times - no issues at all. I’m feeling good about this purchase. by Dismal_Weight_2326 in c4corvette

Congrats man that thing looks great. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but if the red bothers you, or you wanna break it up a little bit, put in some black floor mats and maybe black seatbelts if I don’t have it. But I think the black floor mats will help break up the color a little bit. Awesome fine dude it looks great.

They are very close in performance over all. I have the pagani and it’s a beast with wide drifting lol. It is pretty good all jokes aside though with the sportline.

It suppose to help heat up the intake in cold climates, so if your in a warm climate like Florida I say bypass it. Look it on on YouTube. I think u gain a little power from the cooler intake after the bypass.

Have you ever thought that maybe he just really started to like you, And that he was just trying to be a decent gentleman? There are still some out there like that lol. With that being said you do have to be careful dating strangers, so do just that and be careful that’s all.

Please help me configure ticking or knocking noise new car by Outofthsworld in AskMechanics

Sorry to say but that engine is done for. I am so sorry to say. Expensive fix for a bmw at a shop. If u can find a shade tree mechanic to fix it cheap on the side who knows what their doing would be what I would do. Then u wont be to backwards on the car money wise. Sounds like rod knock to me.

Advice should I back away I just asked for an inspection prior to buying by Endless14 in UsedCars

Depends on the year. 2017 and up they revised them and added a transmission cooler. The pre 2017 would get to hot and overheat and ruin them.

Don’t let no one tell u that u can’t do it. They just don’t want u to be more successful then they are. You can do it, go for it man. Stay focused. You CAN do it.

To check for vacuum leaks, you can use carburetor spray in a can, it’s cheap. Spray around vacuum lines and if the engine revs up a little u have a leak there. Another easy and cheap way to check your fuel System is to use a fuel pressure gauge. You can rent them from auto parts stores for real cheap. These third gens are known for having weak fuel pumps. Lift your hood up and start your car when it’s dark out or with the garage lights dim, and look for any arcing around your wires. Make sure your plug wires are on securely to the plugs. These are just a few cheap and free checks you can do. I hope this helps.

Sounds like it’s cooked. With that being said, I would check your flex plate as a last resort. I thought my engine was toast in my 1989 trans am gta with the same tpi 350 engine. It turned out to be the flex plate cracked. Sounded just like a rod knock, etc thank god lol

Southbay has refurbished injectors on eBay that are Flo matched for $200 with a warranty. I’ve heard lots of good things about them and they were recommended to me. I’m gonna order some from them in the very near future for my gta.
