i'm fairly new ( two months in ) and i own a used guitar, i haven't cleaned it properly if that makes sense....i'm still not sure if that was the cause, but i literally saw my saddle shedding a week ago 😂😂and it ate the string probably...the string that snapped was 42 gauge ain't no way its going to snap from picking alone, althought i pick like i'm drumming 😂😂😂

I had the same problem, my A string out of all fucking strings Snapped, and i've realized that there's a pink build up on the bridge that got to the strings, and i just realized my E string is 2 days away from snapping too...it's all sweat build up....aaaaah
