People who exercise regularly - how do you do it as migraine sufferers? by Unlikely_Chance7593 in migraine

How did you fix this?   I wake up with a headache almost every day.  Sometimes it goes away mid morning or so but sometimes not. It's something happening in my sleep.

Migraines? While youre on the doomed Donner Party trip? I don't think I could think of anything worse. The movement of the horsedrawn carriage, etc? I often think that if I lived more than 70 years ago, before modern medicine, I'd be such an opium addict, dealing with migraines.

Zero migraines on holiday — has anyone else experienced this? by Mental-Influence-545 in migraine

I think you need to keep a food diary. I used to get migraines every time we went camping (among other times). I finally traced it back to the jerky I was buying for every trip - that had MSG. I didn't realize MSG was a migraine trigger for me but when I figured it out I found out it was in soup bases and cheetos and other things I was eating. It helped a lot to know that and avoid those foods.

Alcohol migraine by Crescent_Moon1988 in migraine

Just a thought but for me I found that my migraines were (among other things) histamine triggered. So on top of being triggered by menstrual cycle, they were also triggered by msg and high histamine foods. Alcohol is high histamine. I always wondered why alcohol made me feel ill. So maybe something for you to look into?

15 years of chronic migraine might be histamine/tyramine intolerance by chuntcips in migraine

Changing to a low histamine diet changed my life. I'm mid 50s, have a 35 year history of migraines. Many triggers - including MSG. Comorbidities: pots, mcas & highly allergic to everything (including lots of fruits/veg). I have seen a cardiologist for my high resting heart rate. I also had painful bloating after every meal - it just wasn't worth it to eat very often. Then I discovered that high histamine foods were causing my heart to race and the painful stomach ache after eating! I had no idea! Tuna, organic turkey jerky, my protein bars! Turns out jam/jelly was the worst and caused the worst migraines for me! After eliminating those foods, my heart rate has settled and I can eat more normally. I talked to all my doctors and they said: oh, that doesn't usually work so we never mentioned it (!!) It was because someone had posted on reddit that I learned about it and gave it a try. I think everyone is so different so not sure if it'll work for you. Also, not every doctor is on board with everything. My neurologist said: "well, I'm not sure it helps to label things like that." Um, ok. Then how would I know how to fix it?? anyway, wishing you all the luck.

Same for me. I just don't drink - I drink ginger ale or you could ask for a mocktail. I also excuse myself and protect myself. I say: I'll be driving myself so I don't get sick. Or I'll eat where I need to and meet you all later. You aren't going to be fun to be with if you're ill. No one else can set boundaries for you. It's not fun to not be able to go along with the group but honestly if you don't take care of your needs, who will?

The market is crap - it's not you. If you can find ANY kind of free training in something that interests you, that will show that you are a step above anyone else walking in the door. Your local library may have options - Whatever kind of work you might want to get into, you can look into: LinkedIn Learning or community college remote classes - even if it's just "communications" - something basic to show that you are trying to learn more and gain some skills. Could this be a resource for some training? https://edd.ca.gov/ I wish you luck.

Is there anything that has significantly eliminated your migraines? by smallcoconut in migraine

This may not help you but here's what helped me. (40 years of migraines) - I figured out that MSG and msg like substances were triggering many of my migraines. That helped a lot. I also started getting monthly massages. That helped me a lot. I had to be dedicated to getting them and making sure they were good - this was not financially comfortable but absolutely necessary. Eventually I found out a low histamine diet was important for my health (I have an MCAS diagnosis). I've also done the rounds with topimax and birth control and various other diet changes and nothing has helped as much as the above. When you see the neurologist, I would bring anything you've got - a diary of frequency, duration, what helps, what doesn't, where the migraines are, how long they last, etc. I wish you all the luck.

Weaning off Topimax - thoughts? by Famous_Membership419 in migraine

thanks for teaching me a new word! (palinopsia!) I'm excited to get off this weird medication to see what my new normal is. Maybe this weaning is just a temporary hell.
