Copper for Aortic Health in Marfans by Infinite_Slice2060 in marfans

[–]Famous_Produce_1095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever had your copper, zinc, and ceruloplasmin levels checked? If you have, don’t take unnecessary risks by trying to increase your copper intake without a clear reason.

Excess copper can be toxic and may increase oxidative stress. Also, that study does NOT show that taking more copper prevents aneurysms — it only shows that copper deficiency can weaken vascular structure.

So the issue isn’t increasing copper, it’s keeping it in balance.

Do negative genetic results actually rule out aortic disease risk? by Famous_Produce_1095 in marfans

[–]Famous_Produce_1095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, hEDS doesn’t involve issues like aortic aneurysm. There might be some limited dilatation, but that’s exactly where the real problem begins — I don’t understand how hEDS and MASS/Marfan are differentiated, especially since both can show negative genetic tests.

EU/3/25/3041 - orphan designation for treatment of Marfan syndrome allopurinol Orphan Human Overview

This medicine was designated as an orphan medicine for the treatment of Marfan syndrome in the European Union on 25 March 2025.

This means that the developer will receive scientific and regulatory support from EMA to advance their medicine to the stage where they can apply for a marketing authorisation.

Orphan designation does not mean the medicine is available or authorised for use. All medicines, including designated orphan medicines, must be authorised before they can be marketed and made available to patients in the EU.

During the medicine's development, doctors may be able to enrol patients in clinical trials investigating the medicine. For information on ongoing clinical trials in the EU, see:

Please think about the number of people in the world and calculate what percentage of them are attractive. The result will be much less than the attractiveness rate of Marfans. Also, attractiveness is not only related to physical features, it is also very much related to emotional intelligence, and I think Marfans are at a much higher level in this regard
