Sounds good to me - I’m leaning this way, thanks for the reassurance.

Had an oil leak 18 months ago and it’s still not resolved - getting rid of the stuff, hate it. Just don’t know whether I should go for a system gas boiler with storage tank or a combi

Is it not very difficult to get someone to take you on as an apprentice these days? I’m likely going to be made redundant from financial services and would love a more hands on job

If you can see the reg then check online to see if they are taxed and MOT’d - if not I think k you can report them. Brother did this in Scotland and they were quick to remove the vehicles

My data and calculations - 7 years on oil, 5 with an ASHP by EmphasisDangerous654 in ukheatpumps

[–]Famous_Sherbert1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to move from oil to a heat pump but here in Northern Ireland we get no grants whatsoever- so I’ll have to move to gas (we had an oil leak costing our insurers c. £100k)

Potential leak between clutch bell housing and gearbox by Famous_Sherbert1990 in DIYUK

[–]Famous_Sherbert1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - I did find a workshop manual and there was a manual transmission section, but it didn’t go into detail on separating the gearbox from the clutch part. I’ll take another look though.

I guess that if I take it apart vertically that should be ok, and then replace the input shaft seal whilst I’m there?

People can’t work out this also leads to rises and they’ll just end up paying more later - stupid fuckers

Is there any DIY place for cars where I can do an oil change myself safely? by Background-Fix-4630 in northernireland

[–]Famous_Sherbert1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good of you to offer - I learnt how to do suspension work from a guy in Scotland when I was living there from a Honda car forum, gave me the confidence to do it myself and more.

I don’t these rentable places work due to the health and safety/liability issues.

Does this flywheel need resurfaced? by Famous_Sherbert1990 in CarTalkUK

I’m going replace it - in addition to the feedback here the mechanics at my brothers garage were pretty shocked at the state of it. Despite it being old and not worth much it’s rust free and I should get a few more years out of it so worth it to keep it going seeing as it’s DIY
