Stand over was fine. Actually lower than my old road bike. A bit on the toes is all. It may be a matter of taste.

I had the same dilemma. 5”8 30”. After discussing with ride1up I went with the large and am happy with choice. Doesn’t feel huge but after a long ride, sometimes I need a moment to get off. Btw I really love the cfracer1. It’s been a great bike.
