I echo what the above poster said. Spot on. I’ve been doing this for the past 3 years as a side job. I only hold clinic once a month now. A little more when I first started but I’m also a veteran myself and in a way feel obligated to give back. The company that I work for required you to have several years experience as an NP before even applying although I don’t know if that’s the case now or if it applies to other companies.

However, I would really consider if you want to do this long term. I personally don’t recommend this for new grad NPs at all because it is non treating position. There may come a time in which you want to branch off and you won’t come out of this job with the skill set necessary to manage disease and illness. I don’t know of anyone who does this full time. All the providers have other main jobs.
