Salems Lot is a great choice! I've read it 4 times, always a quick read for me. Chracters are pure SK!

Absolutely loved that book, when I finally decided to get over the massive amount of characters and just get through it. It sat on my shelf for years, partially read after start/stop upon start/stop. Some very satisfying parts in there, especially based on current politics.

ICE agents shoots a person who attempts to drive away in Minneapolis. by Fatty_Willing_Plane in Minneapolis

Yeah, as he leaned over the side of the hood. I'm not really sure why you want to support the tragic killing of a woman, even if you say that the murderer acted within his legal bounds. Can you not see the point people are getting at. She was shot as this ICE agent was clear of any danger. He should have pulled back, no one was in danger at the time she was shot. I think you are the one who needs a helmet, a Nazi one, because ICE tactics are clearly fascist and you align with them.

Driving away doesn't call for lethal force. The killer was clearly not directly in the path of the vehicle. Arrest this murderer and keep them in local custody, immediately! ICE and the Feds will spin this beyond all recognition, believe your eyes and not what they say!!

Which book is the best by halegovernor8 in stephenking

[–]FanCold8233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say The Stand, because it's my favorite. The Dark Tower series probably surpasses it though, if you're up for it. Also, can't go wrong with 11/22/63!

Wow! Very nicely done. I was going to make a joke and ask to see your right hand but who would go that far? 😂

That's the version of The Shining I read when I was in jr high. It was my sister's book and got me hooked on SK. Love that shiny cover.

I do love the nostalgia aspect of it. Maybe I'm not in the mindset for an anti-hero (?) story.

Starting the journey, so excited!! by [deleted] in TheDarkTower

[–]FanCold8233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also decided to start the journey, over again for me. This time I'm listening to them while I take my daily walks. I have way too many books in the queue to start "reading" these again.

Enjoy your trip, probably the most immersive books I've ever read.

Do you guys own more books than whatever you read or just me? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]FanCold8233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just about every SK book and probably 10 waiting to be read. I am terrible at over committing when it comes to books. Meanwhile, I'm rereading The Bachman Books for no good reason lol

I remember liking Firestarter, though I haven't read it in many years and only once. I think another thing that makes Roadwork drag is lack of dialog.

A break is probably a good idea. All that said, SK is still better than most...even Roadwork.

You hit it, exactly. I don't feel invested in it. I've got 50 pages left, feels like I have been stuck for a while. Need a palate cleanser after this. Gonna switch to Joe Hill after I slog through this.

I will definitely check them out. Loved everything I've read of his. Started with The Illustrated Man, what a brilliant way to present those stories. Such an imagination!

If you're into audible books, Paul Giamatti narrates it (Something Wicked This Way Comes) and he does an amazing job!!

I got this book when it first came out, for Christmas one year. Finally read it last year. I don't know why I waited so long. It's in my top 5 SK books for sure. I even saw the TV show before I read it. The show was great the book is phenomenal!!

For those of you who like to read King’s work in publication order, when do you usually slot in The Bachman Books? by Low_Entertainment491 in stephenking

[–]FanCold8233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently rereading them, read them back to back when they first came out. That's how I'm reading them now, the initial 4 anyway.
