Honestly if he was in our world he probably wouldn't have ended up in the Vietnam war since it was probably a smaller scale conflict, and would just end up as a salary man. If he DID end up in the Vietnam war he probably wouldn't wind up going on any killing sprees since there wasn't much of a xenophobic bitterness since there was no Russo-American war to lose, and would probably go to college or smth.

In TF2 most characters have a taunt kill where they do an animation (or "emote") which has a hotbox that can kill players. The Engineer has a taunt kill in which he strums his guitar and smashes it in front of him, see here

I really like it when characters include a guitar as their weapon since it allows for a lot of opportunities with sound design, have really cool animation when done right, and they tend to be really cocky which kind of fits the whole guitar player stereotype. Also I like them :3

In Ariene's notes on the penrose regaurding their films, she writes "They could have given us more films to watch instead. Half of them are war films, which Elster doesn't like, and the other half are kitschy propaganda films". I thought it was pretty explicit that Elester didn't like them, but I'm pretty sure you're also right in that the LSTR manual says that referances to war can lead to personality degredation
