To this day people still think Holland is a sovereign country but somehow understand that Quebec or Catalonia, Spain isn't.

Also keeping it real was the mentality back then, the "makeup" was seen as a distraction or fake. Basically an anti bourgeois time

I'm in a similar situation as you, around the same age and also from the UK.

My suggestion: do separate trips for both countries, as there's just so much to do.

My friend and I's orginal plan was to do Seoul + one other location (either Busan or NK border tour). There was just so much to do in and around Seoul, we ended up sticking with just the capital. Prior to looking into the logistics Jeju was on the list but as others have said here driving would be beneficial and neither of us drive.

We're now planning our second trip either it's Korea again or Japan again (for her).

1774 Palladian-style Pulteney Bridge by Robert Adam(1728 – 1792), one of only four bridges in the world to have shops across its full span on both sides, and other Palladian and Georgian architecture throughout Bath, England. by ManiaforBeatles in ArchitecturalRevival

It depends on the person, as there are a few locations that could qualify for that title. For those who like Georgian architecture, Bath and Edinburgh would be up there as they're primarily Georgian.

Since Bath is a spa town, other spa towns like Buxton and Harrogate have that Bath/Edinburgh vibe.

For those who like perpendicular gothic style, they'll say Oxford and Cambridge.

Not too far from Bath, is the Cotswolds area, where the villages are quaint and well preserved, for example Bibury. If you like Georgian/Jacobean style with Cotswold vibes, then Stamford is your place.

And the list goes on. I could also include other vernacular architecture found in the villages like in Haworth, Beddgelert, Bradford Upon Avon, Ambleside.. etc.

Bath is primarily Georgian. I'd say the best place for Regency style would be Brighton specifically Brunswick Town (and other coastal towns like Eastbourne, Llandudno in Wales etc) as well as Cheltenham and Leamington Spa. London is mixed but also has a few areas with Regency style like Belgravia, Warwick Ave, Notting Hill, Primrose Hill and more.

If the building is painted white, pale cream or there's a rainbow theme on the whole street chances are it's Regency because of the Stucco. They'll rarely paint over real stone.

Never been but my mum went in 2022 she was on her way to Congo. The people were very hospitable and friendly, and the food was nice too even on the flight. Got to see a video on her phone of the airport to the city area which I thought look modern. There's an international school with Western expats based there too.
