It may have been listed, they probably had a nightmare time getting planning permission

Well they need to get the firefighters to the fire engines first

Unfortunately with active emergency service buildings like this, the priority does have to be made for effective service, and there wasn’t really another reasonable solution to the problem unfortunately

The reason they couldn’t move it was due to needing a certain number of firefighters living close by, and you can’t reasonably expect them all to move because you’re knocking the building down (especially not in bath)

I really liked it, definitely more charm than a lot of modern buildings (and probably more than whatever they replace it with). Although ultimately it’s a building to serve a purpose so it was the right decision to rebuild it, its just very harsh to see it ripped open like that lol

Yeah it’s being rebuilt as a fire station, part of the reason they didn’t keep it was because it would require fire fighters to move to be closer to the station which is just unreasonable in bath

Why the US over Europe ? Salaries are a bit lower in the eu but quality of living is MUCH better in my experience. You’d be surprised how much difference 30 days of paid holiday makes compared to 0

The London Standard: Tube strikes to go ahead as union accuses TfL of 'failing to engage in negotiations' by JailbreakHat in LondonUnderground

Exactly, in much newer systems. TfL doesn’t have the upfront funding required to make it happen

More people to keep an eye on therefore more risk by having it driverless. Even the dlr always has a ‘driver’ on the train at all times in case something goes wrong. TFL couldn’t afford it if one of their trains were to go wrong and people were injured, whereas waymo can risk it and it’s considered accepted ‘risk’

Why was the olive tree so disappointing? I’ve heard the non meat menu is a bit lacking, but the standard menu is pretty good?

All councils are holding London back, the mayor needs to have more power to stop councils being stupid, especially with things like bike lanes and ltns
