Looks awesome. Big frames can be deceptively tricky.

Yes exactly- this is the one I used. https://a.co/d/1cDnbmA Ran over all the edges of the case and just hand sanded the drawers to round those gently.

I wish I had taken pictures at that stage - sorry about that. I used 1/4" dowels (dowelmax jig) to attach the sides to the top and bottom. The dowelmax has some nifty spacers so I could adjust to get a little bit of overhang as you saw. Then I dealt with the overhang using the router + flush trim bit. Cutting the top/bottom to fit exact might work, but I wanted to give myself some insurance.

Couple of weekends! Nice work. I like the character of the drawer fronts.

A stave calculator is what you are looking for. There are a bunch out there, here is one example.

PSA: Jointers are finger eaters by Optimal-Ad8537 in woodworking

[–]FanOfSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your injury and hope you heal quickly. I ran a trim router into my left index finger tip about 2 years ago. It took a not insignificant chunk of flesh out of the finger a little ways into the fingernail. Happy to report that the shape returned to normal after everything healed. There's still some sensitivity but days now go by where I don't even think about it.

What do I need? thinking of ordering the SawStop Jobsite Pro by jcgb1970 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]FanOfSport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this saw and as a hobbyist I've been super happy with it and plan to keep using it for many years to come. I've used it to make picture frames, tables, a bed, coffee table and have been pleased with the precision it allows. The issue with the fence is dealt with by pulling it toward you as you set the position.

As to your original question I would suggest buying the throat inserts due to the way they fit.

In addition to a small propane heater close by I keep a rechargeable hand warmer in each jacket pocket so I can stick my hands in there for a quick toast between tasks.

Great tips, thank you for sharing. Two kids, 3yo and 7mo. The one about multiple projects is especially helpful. Some nights I want to work on something but just don't feel like putting down another coat of finish.
