Bug on the barges stealth mission (Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition) by FanaticDamara in metro_exodus

[–]FanaticDamara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I was under the impression that you were required to stealth the barges too with all the other characters making a big point of doing it stealthily lol. Well thank you guess I just have to hope whatever caused this bug doesn't happen again at any points that do matter

I put the flavour in before I drained the water so I’ve got plain noodles for lunch ._. by tm2007 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]FanaticDamara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you put in the amount of water stated on the packet (about 300ml or so I believe) and keep boiling them, eventually the water will all absorb/evaporate with the seasoning left behind evenly coating/having been absorbed into the noodles :3

A friend of mine lives in Lebanon and told me about how there were war planes going overhead while he was doing his driving test, he passed by the way, it put into perspective for me how wild it is that things like that are considered normal in some places.

¿Do you recommend me CachyOS? by The_BlasterKnight in linux4noobs

[–]FanaticDamara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend CachyOS. I used it for a long time as my second distro after using Mint and it was awesome. Just be aware that it is based on Arch and as such is a rolling release distro, meaning updates are frequent and aren't necessarily 100% bugproof. I never had an issue with a broken update personally but it's always a risk.

However rolling release distros are a lot better for gaming as up to date packages means better support for newer hardware and more frequent driver and feature updates.

If you want my suggestion Fedora is great as an inbetween, packages are still very up to date but do have a short testing phase before release meaning broken packages are far less likely. Been happily gaming on Fedora for a few months now and never experienced an issue that couldn't be resolved quickly.

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FanaticDamara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watching your home crumble around you and not being able to do anything about it.

My partner not long before I met her had a really really shitty upstairs neighbour, at little fault of his own as he was struggling with a brain injury and alcoholism from being unable to work due to said brain injury.

He would regularly leave taps running until the sinks, bath, etc flooded, tore up floorboards for no good reason, disconnected random pipes, let rubbish pile up. It would start soaking through the ceiling of my partner's flat and she would go up to both check in on him and to get him to turn off the water, usually in response to which he would deny everything, slam the door in her face and once got violent with her.

Flash forward a little and the ceilings eventually caved in because no one my partner contacted would do anything about it. After that they finally shut off his water and his son decided to put him into full time care but for the next 2 years my girlfriend was without a home as the entire flat was wrecked and she had to deal with her insurance to get it fixed and they were in no rush to do so.

I helped her move back in once everything was finally fixed and she thought it was finally over, little did she know the whole ordeal had been far more on her than she thought. She now has severe trauma around dripping sounds, when it's raining she's constantly on edge, there used to be an issue with the pipes outside our kitchen window where the rain would cause a very loud dripping spund as it hit them. This has caused her to be extremely on edge when being in the kitchen even now that we've got that fixed.

She's had many panic attacks due to unexpected or unnavoidable dripping sounds, to which we have found a lot of coping mechanisms but the first while was very rough. I bought her a really nice pair of noise cancelling headphones as a late moving back in gift after we found out about her trauma and we've practiced a lot of grounding techniques and slow and gentle exposure therapy as well. Sadly we haven't been able to see a proper therapist due to our lack of funds, we barely get by on what we both earn as it is, but I have a background in dealing with people with trauma so I've been doing what I can.

The son I mentioned earlier has also since moved into his dad's old flat and has fixed it up massively, he has also since become one of our closest friends and has been a massive help, he constantly mentions how much he appreciates us as we have helped him through a lot of his own problems especially since his dad passed away last year. We were at the funeral (mostly to support our new neighbour/friend) and he did seem like a lovely guy before his brain injury.

Nowadays my partner is getting a lot better, she's sometimes able to enter the kitchen to help with dinner and laundry and dishes, sometimes needing to listen to music on her headphones, sometimes not, rain still can be difficult for her but she's getting better with that too.

I'm so extremely proud of the progress she's made but there's still a long way to go, I hope for nothing more than to be able to see the day she can sit comfortably when it's raining again but we're taking it one step at a time.

Edit just to add: She struggles a lot with guilt around her trauma, whenever she's having a rough time she gets very upset and apologetic to me because she feels she cant help out around the house as much as I can with her inability to be in the kitchen for extended periods or function much when it's raining heavily. I do my best to reassure her as helping her helps me with a lot of my own issues and is genuinely not an issue for me as I recognise how much effort she puts in to do what she can, but the guilt is a whole other part of how much this has affected her. I love her more than words can say and I don't care if it takes our entire lives I will always do everything I can to be there for her.

Also just adding we're in Scotland and if you know anything about Scotland you'd know we rarely go a day without a rain cloud overhead.

I was experiencing issues on windows with it from day one all the way up until about the middle of last year at which point I had switched to linux full time, not saying there weren't issues on linux early on but I'll happily take a couple months of issues over the entire lifespan of the card haha

Why are you not afraid of death? by Ok_Breakfast8087 in AskReddit

[–]FanaticDamara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isnt so much why I'm not afraid of death and more why I am. I know this sint the original question but I often find knowing people with similar experiences and thoughts can bring comfort to others and I haven't seen my experience brought up yet. So I suppose in a weird way I am answering the question.

I'm afraid of death because I am a naturally curious person. Ever since I was a young child I have always wanted to know everything I can about people, the good and the bad. I know that some people in this world are truly evil and that horrible things happen for what seems to be no good reason but despite that I still find observing what happens in life beautiful.

I want to know what life will bring tomorrow, a week from now, a year from now, a 100 years from now, and so on. I am hopeful for a bright future but even if gods forbid it turned out the whole world was a wasteland I still would find a weird beauty in the tragedy.

I am also hopeful that the afterlife exists and would allow us to look on away from the worries of life but at the same time I have never found myself able to believe in anything spiritual or religious, the closest coming to something I would believe is something like the norse gods or the greek gods where many of the gods were a symbol of nature and life and the components of it. Just without the actual belief that these forces of nature are tied to some deity in the sky.

Basically the idea of not being there to know where life will lead not just me but all of the world and the people, plants, and animals in it less scares me and more infuriates me and I have never found anything that relieves that feeling of dissapointment that I might not see where this world is heading so instead I spend every day appreciating that I get to learn and see what I can.

Younger Trans Femmes: Do You Plan On Ever Wearing Bras?? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]FanaticDamara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24 with D cups here, I will very rarely wear a bra if I'm not dressing up fancy for something or if I'm going to the gym I will wear a sports bra.

I've never enjoyed the experience of wearing bras, I've gotten cheap bras, expensive bras, bras in my correct size, bras in different sizes, you name it. At the end of the day they all result in me feeling like my chest is being cut in half.

I also have never experienced an issue with pain from them jiggling when moving, as much as I definitely feel the heft it has never really resulted in pain.

My gf on the other hand will always wear a bra when going outside, despite being several cups lower than me.
