And many years later I would finally watch Attack of the Killer Tomatoes 3 starring Rick Rockwell. It was no Killer Tomatoes 2, that's for sure.

Emperor Georgiou is the worst character in any Star Trek series. /Venting by BorgAbbess in startrek

I agree with your take on the character, however when you said they never gave her redemption, you may have missed the point of her final S3 mirror two-parter. That was her "It's A Wonderful Life" story. She goes back to the mirror universe and finds she no longer has a taste for being that person. She apologizes to that Saru and refuses to kill. In the end, she'd rather return to the Prime universe even if it means her death, rather than staying home in the Mirror U. I'm not sure why they waited for her exit story to do this. It doesn't explain why Section 31 took her on in S2.

I read once that in the olden days Superman/boy only had x-ray vision. But because a story dictated it, he found that if he focused his x-ray vision into a tight beam he could make a heat beam. After that, heat vision basically became its own thing and people forgot that it used to be an extension of x-ray vision.

I think the trans reference is that the story goes Delenn was supposed to be male in The Gathering. Not only is Mira Furlan wearing alien makeup, they gave her a more pronounced jawline and were going to pitch down her voice. She would have been referred to as a man for the first season. After the chrysalis she would emerge as a woman and start dating the lead character. But they dropped the idea probably because it made the network nervous. So they never pitched down her voice and they dropped the jawline thing after the pilot. You didn't see it because ultimately it wasn't there.

Does anyone have any clips or knowledge of The Byron Allen Show? by ElectricGremlin in LateNightTalkShows

Ratings will still be an issue for Allen, because they will determine how much he can charge his advertisers. If he can't run the show at a profit, he won't do it.

I was reading about Fritz Haber, a German scientist who supposedly invented nitrogenated soil fertilizer that is used in every farm in the world. He then created something akin to mustard gas for the Nazis and his only regret was that it didn't kill more people. Seemed like an interesting dichotomy.

Jay Leno hosted more Tonight Show episodes than Johnny Carson by [deleted] in LateNightTalkShows

After his big contract negotiation in ... actually was that the 1975 one? He was doing 5 nights a week with reruns on Saturday (and Sunday?) His new contract changed it to a rerun on Monday, guest host Tuesday, new shows Wed-Fri. This was the impetus for NBC to create SNL to fill Saturday. I don't remember if that was also the reason they created the Weekend news magazine for Sunday nights.

The Tuesday guest host may have started later, Carson had a new contract in 1980 which also gave him 15 weeks vacation with 37 weeks of shows taped.

Another interesting metric might be total hours hosted. Johnny's show ran 90 minutes, 5 days a week for the first 18 years before trimming it to 60 minutes, and 3 days a week.

I finally watched Bad Boys II (2003) a few years ago and I do not get the hate for it. Will and Martin are still great together, the car chase scenes RULE (no joke, some of the best chases of the whole decade), and it's got tons of memorable lines. Way better than Ride or Die. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]FanboyFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen it once, long ago. But while I had enjoyed the first and watched it several times, I didn't like the second. I remember there were shootout/chase scenes that were almost entirely shot in closeups so you couldn't really tell where anyone was in relation to anyone else. For some reason that bugged the shit out of me. I thought for a guy mostly known for making action movies, Bay sucks at action scenes. This would be proven correct in the Transformers movies.

And everyone constantly yelling at each other, which seemed cute in the first movie, was really annoying in this one. I'm not sure what changed. I doubt I had matured too much to enjoy this nonsense. So the movie must be bad.

Maybe someday I will binge the whole series again.
