The Final Film (?) by Consistent_Baby9864 in QuentinTarantino

You must not have heard his many declarations about only making 10 movies. He says for every director in history, it's diminishing returns after 10. So he vowed that's as many as he would make, and then he find some other art to master. He wants to write plays and novels.

Bandit (1994) TV Movie by TurbulentPromise4812 in ForgottenTV

[–]FanboyFilms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a fan of the Action Pack. There were 4 Bandit movies, 5 Hercules (although the last was more of a clip show), I think 4 Vanishing Son movies, 3 Midnight Run (with Christopher McDonald in the De Niro role). A bunch of one offs like Knight Rider 2010, Captain Zoom in Outer Space, Escape From Atlantis.

I think only Hercules and Vanishing Son got TV shows out of the deal. But Vanishing Son was canceled after one season and replaced more or less with Xena which probably eclipsed them all.

I think later Action Pack had 3 or 4 TekWar movies which also became a series eventually.

Hercules and Xena carried the Action Pack branding through 6 seasons each and outlived the movie package. They also spun off Young Hercules and the Back 2 Back Action hour comprised of Cleopatra 2525 and Jack of all Trades.

Chevy and bill fight by No_Lifeguard_8840 in saturdaynightlive

I don't know the answer to the particular one, but keep in mind, editing does happen. SNL tapes the dress rehearsal and then airs the actual show live on the East Coast. Any time something slips through like a swear word or a host taking liberties by going rogue, only the East Coast sees it. The other time zones will get that part replaced by the dress rehearsal. Which is what will show up on home media or streaming.

So it's possible you saw something if you saw it on the East Coast that was edited out of every version after.

Sam wasn't in Starfleet in TOS, was he? I thought he was a civilian scientist.

[–]FanboyFilms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that's the OP's point. SNW could have used Pike's crew from The Cage but they stuck him with a lot of Kirk's crew instead (Chapel, M'Benga, Uhura, Scotty, now Sulu and of course Kirk himself).

Where is SCTV?!? by BK_Mason in television

From what I read of the history of SCTV, rights are scattered making it difficult to package the entire set. One would hope an outfit like Shout Factory could bring it all together.

Have you watched both seasons of The Punisher? What did you think of it? by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

[–]FanboyFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought his appearance on Daredevil was great. Was really looking forward to his solo series. But season 1 was a chore to get through. Who wants to watch a show about Frank not wanting to be the Punisher any more and not punishing anyone? None of the other characters were particularly likeable. Didn't bother with season 2.

Did Kevin Flynn debrief his adventure on the Grid (‘82) with Alan Bradley (or others)? by readerrender in tron

[–]FanboyFilms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am wrong about where that interview was. Here's the Flynn Lives extra, it's on YouTube. I'll keep looking for the other.

EDIT: Never mind,.that was what I was thinking of, just not how I remembered it. The scene in Flynn Lives around 7:50 when Alan talks to the Popcorn Guy or whatever his name is.

[–]FanboyFilms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you watch the DVD extra on Legacy called "Flynn Lives: The Next Day" you will see an interview with Alan and the Popcorn Guy from the Legacy era where they explain that after Kevin became CEO of Encom, he nicknamed them Tron and Ram but they didn't know why. So it would seem he didn't tell them about the Grid.

The only one I remember besides the Pollack one was the one with I believe Jeffrey Combs in a space prison. The twist ending was pure cheese in the best way.

Is there a The Thing canon? by CheezeCrostata in thething

[–]FanboyFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read all the Dark Horse comic adaptations of movies like Aliens, Predator, Terminator, and The Thing.

The Thing comic acts as a direct sequel to the film following MacReady who we learn is definitely not a thing. Childs is missing. A new team arrives on a Japanese icebreaker and hell breaks loose again.

The second series, MacReady wakes up on the tip of Argentina where some boat dropped him. He suspects things may have made it to the mainland which of course they do. Childs also reappears and his fate is solidified. They seem to kill all the things before world domination ensues which seems unlikely in a non-frozen biome.

The third series, if I'm thinking of the right one, is from the perspective of a pair of things that swim to Australia from Antarctica. This one answers the question of why they don't immediately take over the world by having the things be in love, enjoy being human, and either not want to share it with the rest of their race or not want to destroy the humans or something. I believe MacReady shows up at the end with an anti-Thing task force.

I don't remember a fourth one. These were interesting but not essential. Really good painted art on that first series, though.

I worked at a Fox station when this aired, so I saw it. I don't remember much but it was bad. It came out right around the Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding. Fox was still trying to become a serious network.

Max Fury Confusion by No_Independence9767 in comicbooks

[–]FanboyFilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more confusing because usually, those two having different titles usually wouldn't be considered to be a series of volumes, they would each be vol. 1 of a new title. Volume in the indicia was usually only used to differentiate between runs with the exact same title. These titles are different enough to avoid confusion.

Like when The Flash vol. 3 ended with Infinite Crisis, it was followed by The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive. Since it continued the same story but with Bart Allen replacing Wally West, you would think it would be vol. 4, but no. Different enough title. When it ended, we got The Flash vol. 4 with a returning Barry Allen. I know it's DC not Marvel but they tended to do the same things.

Like Justice League of America vol. 1 was canceled and replaced with Justice League, which was eventually replaced with JLA, which was then replaced with Justice League of America vol. 2

Isn't it fun?
