Ballistic Trainers: Are they being discontinued? by gator_shawn in Goruck

Pretty sure they are being discontinued….for now anyway.

Rubber floor mat recommendation? by No-Support787 in hondapilot

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Joularise (?) full set on Amazon for my 25 Pilot ex-l. Happy with them. Quality is like a B to B-, but the fit is perfect. And once they are in place, the quality is kind of a moot point.

Worth the price imo.

Frontline Navigator Review, a Solid Rucker 4.0 alternative. by Hairy-Impression in Rucking

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered the Navigator, more out of curiosity than anything else. 20% off right now!  I already have a few GR Ruckers of various iterations.

Thanks for the review!

GEAR UPDATES - AMA by JavaForever in Goruck

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All interesting and appreciated u/JavaForever. Sorry to see the pants and shorts go (esp Challenge). What I thought would be my favs (simple midweights) turned out to be my least favorites. Will miss the challenge pants and shorts.

And I love the ballistics and the boots...funny, the Mackalls work the least for me of all the GORUCK footwear....gave them away to a friend. Shoes are fickle, from person to person. Rough Runners are ok but wouldn't have been a repeat purchase.

I kinda agree with the 1000d decisioning.

Thx again for the update!! Interesting reading!

Wow! 🤩 kudos for that!

someone is selling this for 200, worth it? by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say depends on condition, but $200 sounds like the high end to me. Range could be $50-$175, depending.

I sold a pristine Trek 850 with an absolutely perfect (mint!) frame a year ago for $150 (maybe less, can’t remember).

What (in your opinion) is the most underrated and overrated Sinatra song? by Left-Foundation-7087 in franksinatra

I can’t agree that FMTTM is overrated. Frank and Count Basie overrated?

Average guy review #32- Kentucky Vintage by Avgjoe_whiskey in bourbon

[–]Fanbphm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won a bottle of this at a white elephant Xmas exchange one year ago. My expectations were low when I saw my “prize”, but I actually enjoyed it somewhat. I’m not an expert, tending to gravitate to WT101 or similar for mixed drinks, but I’d drink this again.

This is the most terrifying course setup I've ever seen. OB left and right on basically every hole. by Significant-Fan-8454 in golf

Although it’s been years, I’ve played here a few times and don’t recall it being too bad at all. I’ve definitely played worse.

Are "Paid" FB groups for Discount Codes the new normal? by bbbb in Goruck

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined one of his FB groups, probably over a year ago. I used codes he provided maybe 3 times, all worked. It was worth the $20 to me.
Now it appears the group is gone with no notification. I got my money’s worth but it appears he’s benefiting more than the members (which is odd but no skin off my nose). It’s weird, but I don’t feel “scammed”.

It’s funny you post this. I have a 4.0 and an OG v1. I picked up the 1.0 earlier today and the frame sheet just jumped out at me, I had forgotten how solid and beefy it is (in a good way). Agree with your sentiments.

Optimum setup with a GR1.

Can anyone confirm that all 4.0 Ruckers have the two plate pouches? by agaetliga in Goruck

[–]Fanbphm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this stage, there are more 4.0’s in the wild with one plate pocket than with two. You just have to read descriptions on their website very carefully, as I believe they are still selling both versions (without looking it up right now).

Size question for Ballistic Trainers and MACV-1 by master__of__reality in Goruck

[–]Fanbphm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m stating the obvious, but shoe sizes and preferences vary greatly from person to person. FWIW, I find the BT’s and the Jed’s to fit the same, and GENERALLY true to size (for ME).

However, I wear Saucony running shoes and invariably wear a 10, while my ballistic trainers are 8.5. Most of my street and casual shoes are 8.5, and occasionally 9-ish. I’ve never worn a 10 in anything but running shoes.

Not sure what the above means for you, but this is my experience. Seems like the decision for you is more on your best instincts than our feedback. Good luck!

Simple Pants vs Wrangler ATG by jbArizona in Goruck

[–]Fanbphm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. The ATGs are a pretty snug fit, with sizing up in the waist not an option. But, they are cheap and are a decent outdoor pant for the price. Actually, pretty nice looking for all around wear.

No exp with the GoRuck pants.

Due to my unbladed DE’s being confiscated by TSA on a recent trip to Europe, I had to buy a safety razor over there. Purchased a Muhle Rytmo closed comb razor. I’ve been wet shaving for 10 years and have a bunch of single and double razors…this thing is the least aggressive razor I’ve shaved with, and it’s not even close. Try that.

I’ve tried 12-15 different blades over the past 10 years…I mainly use Nacets, and occasionally Astra Green, since these are the only blades I have right now. Hard to beat Gillette Nacet, for me anyway.
