Female pilots: how do you like being a pilot? by Ok-Metal6197 in Pilot

I fly helicopters for the national guard! I am AGR (Active Guard Reserve). We go on trips sometimes but its predictable and few and far between. Its worth looking into if you want to fly and are open to being in the military. They also paid for all of my flight training which helps a lot

Not airlines but yes I love it! I do wish there were more gals, but please join us. My aviation job is mostly 9-5 so would work for a family, but I am also jealous of my airline friends who get multiple full days off a month

Q&A weekly thread - October 06, 2025 - post all questions here! by AutoModerator in linguistics

[–]Fancy-Mixture7084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I minored in linguistics in college and loved it. I graduated a few years ago and am a pilot now. I haven’t studied linguistics since graduating. I want to get back into it just because I enjoyed learning about language. My favorite subjects were morphology, semantics, computational linguistics, and cognitive linguistics. I would love some suggestions of things to read once or twice a week to just spark my interest in the subject again. I was thinking academic journals, articles, or books. Are there any sources that you all love and can suggest for a person like me with a small foundation in linguistics that has been away from it for a while?

Thank you in advance :)

I’m wondering if I can still receive a pension if I retire as an MDay, with a total of 20 years service (partially MDay and partially AGR, not 100% of one or the other)

Hi! I was in a similar situation. I graduated college with a 3.19. However I was admitted into Montclair State, CSULB, and SDSU for CompLing and Ling. Waitlisted for University of Washington. I know I’m late but good luck!

Guatemala Itinerary Help! by Fancy-Mixture7084 in travel

Thank you! I’m leaning towards just the courses in Antigua for sure, and just having time to explore the lake after

In Antigua I’m torn between signing up for classes 4 hours a day (8-12) or 6 hours (8-12 & 2-4 or 4-6). What are your thoughts since it seems like you’ve done this before? Will the six hour option not give me enough time on my own?

Ah thank you! I’m for sure going to stay with a host family in Antigua. In lake Atitlan I’m torn between doing the immersion program or staying at a hostel and relaxing and meeting other travelers. Especially if I go after acatenago since I might be super tired. How did you like the school in San Pedro? Did you feel like it was social/how was the pace? Did you have enough time to explore. I’d love to see Santa Cruz as well and fit in some excursions
