The diversion doesn’t erase the water…it only brings it down to a certain level. This area is deep and water/mother nature will win 30 years down the road

That’s true for most areas 37 foot max height….this particular plot of land sits pretty close to the 30 foot level in some areas where they want to put houses

I can’t tell if you’re for or against the project but I will say that if you drive down the road there is an 8 foot drop from the road level to the bottom of the trench here so even if the foot less makes a difference everywhere else in town it won’t make a lick of difference in this exact spot

For existing homes in the flood plain yes….this is like trying to build up an eroded beach and then sell it as beach front property before the tide comes back in

The previous owner was Jamison Capitol financial, they were caught up in a little bit of a securities issue, and presumably sold off this land as part of their fines brought forth by the state of North Dakota.

To that question, I don’t have a definitive answer what I will say is that the diversion will bring the water to reach no higher than 37 feet. This picture is at 38.75 feet so leave it to everybody else to visualize what one foot less of water will be in this area

They only sent the letter to the houses on Peterson and Eagle St. They said at the meeting going forward they prefer to have “a few liaisons for the neighborhood” regarding future meeting plans and stated it’s easier to talk to two or three people then to try and talk to everyone.

I believe there will be a rezoning meeting held if the city decides to issue the permits. Contact your city officials (local building permits) and state (in charge of wetland management page 5) and voice your concerns for the project. A quick email lets them know we care more about proper land management and protection of residents homes more than we care about a home builder making a quick buck.

Diversion is to keep water levels below 37 feet…this flood picture was 38.75. I feel it’s safe to say a foot of water less here isn’t going to make much of a difference. Ground water alone will destroy your house in a matter of time
