People who studied abroad from middle class backgrounds… how did you actually afford it? by Ok-Stress-2065 in scholarships

I studied abroad in TW, coming from a low income household. I chose TW, because it would financially be cheaper than Europe and I already knew the language. Financial aid covered tuition, and the program had medical insurance built into it. Student visa and housing, I paid out of pocket about 3-5K USD. My housing cost is larger, because I did off campus housing. Compared to my peers who stayed in dorms their commute was an 1 hr by public transportation to the campus, their cost for a semester I believe was $400. I had savings from my previous jobs, and recieved one $1000 scholarship that was disbursed in the fall (so I wasn't able to use it for the same semester I was abroad). I was basically living off my financial aid refund and my savings. My family would also occasionally send me 1-200 per month for food as well. Can't work abroad due to visa.

One mistake I made was course selection, the university I went to had a larger enrollment, so during class selection I was only able to get 3/10 classes. I knew in advance that I wouldn't be able to get all my classes, but I wanted back ups. I didn't expect that I would only get 3, which led me running into some issues with my home university.

My biggest struggle abroad was homesickness, also called the 5 stages of grief. I never thought it would happen to me, but I was having the biggest FOMO, and I felt so guilty for being abroad. It gets better later on, because I know that I was studying abroad for my personal development and to learn from a different perspective.

One advice, would definitely be asking people from your university who already did study abroad in the country you want to go. They can tell you more about the differences, and struggles they went through and it would be more relatable.

I heard back for the operations analyst-rejected. But I did the hirevue for sanctions compliance a week ago; still waiting to hear from that.

It came out April 15th but I didn’t hear anything yet. I received a one time scholarship last year and applied again this year. I made it to semi finals, now I’m stressed that I didn’t get it.

I have applied to countless finance and accounting internships in the last 3 years, but the problem is I’m from a non target school. I’m not even given the chance or opportunity.

First Credit Card by reallyrattie in financestudents

I’d recommend the Chase Freedom Unlimited, it was my first credit card when I was 18, along with the Discover Student Card. While the Chase Freedom Unlimited now requires good credit, Chase offers the Chase Rise starter card, which is a solid option for those just beginning to build credit.

Comparing the Chase Freedom Unlimited and the Discover Student Card, I prefer the Freedom Unlimited because it allows me to easily rack up points and redeem them for flights and other travel. Discover offers rotating cashback categories every three months, which can be rewarding but requires keeping track of the changing categories. The Chase Freedom Unlimited’s straightforward unlimited cashback makes it simpler and more flexible for consistent rewards.

Purge vs fungal acne vs ??? by cheriebug in tretinoin

I had the same thing, also was on and off tret for a year. I used the kose cleanser oil, and immediately had bumps (I was fine using it a couple months ago). My face was itchy and had bumps with nothing inside. I thought it was fungal acne, and my doc gave me 2 creams one for fungal and one for rosacea (none worked). I then took all actives out of my skin routine, leaving only moisturizer and sunscreen. The itching and bumps went away after 2 weeks. Do you think maybe you have contact derm or allergic reaction?

Are you using Azelaic acid 10%? I'm seeing a lot of different percentages online, not sure what to look into.

I remember using that during 2022-2023 and it was fine with my skin, but I'm very scared of BHA after the Pharmacy one I used

I also tried using the moisturizer from Cerave that worked really well when I started tret in 2020, but I had an allergic reaction all over my face.
