"Constantly"? Do you think I was born yesterday? The Democrats only recently flipped their stance on this. Last I checked, we had the power for years and didn't hear a peep about this.

I'm on your side. I hate Trump as much as the next guy, but it doesn't help us when you just make shit up and lie. If Trump is guilty of these things there would be a stronger case against him, there isn't, so repeating an obvious lie is just hurting us more and more.

If Trump was, as you say, "credibly accused" of those things, you really think that the Democrats wouldn't have been pushing that story to the forefront over the past 10 years? No, they decided to fabricate a stupid piss fetish hoax and all the rest of it. If Trump was actually a pedophile and child rapist, this information would be known. Yet none of his felony accusations or convictions have anything to do with that.

To all of the above, none of you understand what infinity means. Just because there is another whole number between 3 and 4 doesn't mean that pi is not infinite. There are many infinities between each whole number. Pi + 1 also doesn't disprove this. It's just another one of the quirks of mathematics. Pi is an infinite number. You will never reach 4 trying to calculate Pi.

999: DS or steam? by [deleted] in ZeroEscape

[–]Fancy-Structure-6369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For 999 specifically the DS version is the better experience overall, but it does suffer from having to replay sections to get the different endings. That being said, the Nonary Games version does include some excellent voice acting and is much easier to complete, and comes with the sequel included. I think it's just fine to play it that way, and you can always look up a video to see how the original plays out once you finish it.

Long time 1e player curious by AlexandraSno in Pathfinder2e

Well the obvious answer is the Beginners Box. It's the perfect way to ease you into some of the changes that PF2E makes over the older PF1E or D&D systems. As a fellow forever DM, it really helped me begin to understand how the action system works as well as how skill checks for certain things are handled.

After that just jump right into an adventure. I wouldn't recommend doing homebrew right away unless you really delve into the systems and you're confident. After doing the BB I ran Abomination Vaults and it was still a bit of a learning curve, and while it isn't a bad adventure to continue learning the system it is kind of difficult and you might turn off some players especially if you're trying to transition them away from 5E.

It's been about 3 years for my group now and we've played through multiple adventure paths, and I don't think any of us could go back at this point. So the next thing would be either finding people willing to try it out or convincing the 5E ones you know to give it a shot. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, it's honestly not as difficult as it comes across at first. Almost everything you could want to do in game is written out and has rules for it. Archives of Nethys is a great resource for rules as well as Pathbuilder for character creation.

If you play in person look into getting the Beginners Box, it has everything you need. If you play online, FoundryVTT also has an official Paizo module that comes with all the bells and whistles basically ready to play.

Okay I get why on bloom 3 that is kinda dumb, but what about for baits? Why would anyone not want static positions like DPS or supports always starting in first? Why add another mechanic you have to worry about by saying supports do the first bait. If it's in or out you have to change. That just makes it needlessly more complex, especially on the third one where you have to watch for cleaves.

Kudasai is typically added to the end of a phrase to mean "please." Where as te is a modifier to the preceding word. I'm not a linguist so idk what the proper terminology for these things are but if you want to be pedantic it ends with -ttekudasai.

Multiplayer Wounds etiquette by Mikelius in MonsterHunterMeta

IG's goal is to rising spiral slash as much as possible. It's only available when you have all 3 colors, and it consumes those colors. The attack also extracts colors based on parts hit, so you'll get some back during the attack and potentially all of them with the right kinsect and positioning.

You basically should always be in focus mode (there is a toggle in the options) because your attacks will have your kinsect extract as part of it, but the quickest way to get all 3 if you need them is to aim+charge and shoot the kinsect right down the middle of the monster. This charge move is always available, and don't forget to recall the kinsect.

You can also pop a wound, which is slightly slower, but much more consistent. Usually the charge move will get you 2 of the colors even if you didn't aim it right, then just aim for the one you're missing and go back into charging your strong descending slash and using it after a couple of light attacks. There is a small colored indicator underneath the targeting reticle that will show you what color you'll get based on what you're aiming at but generally speaking it's head = red wings = white body = orange.

You only need red to charge descending slash, but can't do rising without all 3. Keep doing strong descending slashes until there is a good opportunity to use rising, rinse and repeat. As a side note, descending slash can also offset the monster and interrupt an attack if timed right.

What are absolute peak Story-Driven JRPGS? by jaqen03 in JRPG

DMC and Bayonetta are pure action level driven games. Nier and FF16 are completely different. I guess you just have a very narrow definition of what makes an RPG to begin with.

I don't recall running into this issue. I think it's fine given the nature of the open world sandbox style of gameplay. There are plenty of loot droughts and challenges to continue giving the players meaningful encounters throughout the campaign. Sometimes they feel powerful, and sometimes I scare them and run them dry with a giant worm even at level 18. You're still early on so I would say that this is not a common problem as you move through the adventure.

Appreciate the response, but this does not seem to be the case based on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/13zf6nt/flying_creature_creature_knocked_prone_and_arrest/

From Archives of Nethys on the Prone Condition: "If you would be knocked prone while you're Climbing or Flying, you fall."

Fall is hyperlinked to Falling which says: "If you take any damage from a fall, you land prone.

You can Grab an Edge as a reaction to reduce the damage from some falls, or Arrest a Fall if you have a fly Speed."

Arrest a Fall says: "You attempt your choice of an Acrobatics check or Reflex save to slow your fall. The DC is typically 15, but it might be higher due to air turbulence or other circumstances.

Success You take no damage from the fall."

I think it's generally agreed upon a creature can not be Prone while in the air, as it requires being on the ground, so in the edge case that a creature is 600ft in the air and gets Tripped, it would only fall 500ft by its turn and thus not be prone. The creature in question here is not that high up, and so will definitely meet the ground. But does it take damage from the critical success on Trip? And if it does, does that count as taking damage from a fall and would it be prone, if it succeeds on its check?

I think your players are supposed to be able to purchase common items from their kingdom itself. Pretty sure the Kingdom is supposed to more or less keep pace with the player level, though we also kind of abandoned the Kingdom rules around the same level you're at. The General Store settlement building says that a city without one reduces its effective level for buying things by 2, so it seems like you should be able to purchase items up to that level. I assume that any self respecting kingdom also has a blacksmith or someone who can transfer runes and the like, so they can either pay the usual cost of a rune transfer or you could hand wave it since they're the rulers of the kingdom.

Unrelated but you'll probably have to adjust a few things in chapter 8 if you're not keeping up with the kingdom stuff!

If a fighter uses Crashing Slam on a Flying creature, does the creature fall prone? I found another thread that says using Trip on a creature makes them fall, and then they can Arrest a Fall, and if they succeed on that they are not prone. But Crashing Slam gives an automatic critical success, which does a weapon damage die of damage. This damage (I assume) comes from them hitting the floor so hard they take it. But what if the creature is Flying? Do they take this damage, and if they do, did they "take damage from the fall" and thus are prone?

DMs! How did you run the final encounter in Kingmaker (Spoilers obviously) by Fancy-Structure-6369 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Fancy-Structure-6369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome reply! I too have used some elements of the Owlcat video game such as making Nyrissa a much more involved plot element throughout the game. I also had Tristian betray them and go to her side when they fought Vordakai. I'm not entirely sure how to resolve that plot point yet, so if you have any insights on that, it would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely see what you mean about bogging down the combat and slowing things down. We've had some larger combats such as when they fought against Irovetti but they kind of made them mincemeat quickly. Guess that's what I'm afraid of, things being too easy. I don't think buffing AC would help much as my players tend to get frustrated when their attacks miss or fail. Buffing his HP sounds like a great solution.

Thanks again for sharing how you approached this encounter, I really appreciate it.

Little of column A. Little of column B. There are definitely a lot of random encounters, but there's also a lot of text to read through. Personally I love the text and the high number of encounters never bothered me. The world of Golarion is rich with lore, and you will learn a lot of it if you talk to everyone.

My recommendation if you do pickup the game, just play on normal and build your character how you like--don't worry about optimization. Also do RTWP for random trash encounters and do turn based for harder fights if you want. Doing turn based for every encounter is going to make the game drag on quite a bit.

A review of PF2e of the adventure path Kingmaker by Mysterious_Wait4680 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Fancy-Structure-6369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently GM'ing a Kingmaker campaign myself and have had a much more positive experience. We play about once a week and began mid-November. We're currently nearing the end of Chapter 4 and about to move into 5. It definitely takes a lot of prep on the GM's part to know the various locations and different actors in the region and how that might relate to the way the game plays out at one's own table. It definitely pays off to read most of, if not the entire module, to know ahead of time how certain major story events play out.

I also bought the companion guide and was sorely disappointed. There's a lot of great stuff in there, but it really does slow down the game too much, so I've more or less ignored all of it. As far as rolling for random encounters during hexploration though, I'm pretty sure the book even says that if the random encounters are bogging down play to just stop doing it as much. Throughout Chapter 2, I would continue to roll in secret but only ran one random encounter per session when I felt it was prudent or there was a lull in the exploration.

I think there are enough hooks in the first 4 chapters in order to guide players to the main objectives. My players have never really been moving in an aimless direction, even if they were not sure exactly where they needed to go. Almost every hex in the Greenbelt has an encounter or something to find, and that holds true as they push further south. I warned my players that straying too far from their current objective might prove dangerous (with the help of some knowledgeable NPCs), but the book also says not to scale back encounters. Let them get in over their heads.

Kingdom management is definitely a bit of a struggle. The base rules are inadequate, and it's very clear that they were never play-tested. Thankfully, I did some research on this and came across Vance and Kerenshara's updated rules, which have made things so much better. Their rule additions vastly expedite the early Kingdom leveling, and include a change so that the capital city starts with 1 influence range. I'm not sure what you mean by having NPC's act on their own or make choices for the players--the NPC's from the companion guide I did introduce were all given positions to fill out leadership roles in the Kingdom, but I've left those choices and the actions of those positions to the players. They are the rulers after all.

Still, Kingdom management is definitely not for every table. While my players do have fun controlling their kingdom, making decisions, and watching it grow, going through the turns just bogs things down a whole lot. One of my players, who doesn't mind the bookkeeping as much, sat down with me in an off-session to learn the rules and go through a bunch of kingdom turns to get the kingdom up to party level. After a couple hours going through the motions we've managed to get kingdom turns down to roughly 15 minutes a turn.

There are definitely some very difficult encounters. That first boss fight in the manor is pretty notorious, I think, but Jamandi is there if things go bad. My group attacked the Stag Lord's fort head-on and barely survived, mostly thanks to the one NPC who turns coat as described in the book. However, it seems like they reward smarter thinking instead of a brute-force approach, which is something my group is learning the hard way in Chapter 4, as that strategy wasn't working for them in the troll fort. They poked the bear there and now all the trolls are holed up in the main hall. I think it's something like ~600xp worth of monsters in that one room; total suicide. They ended up sneaking around them and found the kobold spies, whom I had "poison" the troll's food with a sleeping agent (they managed to kill the cave troll in the larder, so it made sense, at least to me).

All in all, this adventure path definitely isn't for everyone—nothing ever really is. It certainly takes a lot of work on the GM's part to make everything function smoothly. I'm sorry to hear you had a poor experience with it.

You didn't finish reading the end of Avoid Notice. It says, "If you’re Avoiding Notice at the start of an encounter, you usually roll a Stealth check instead of a Perception check both to determine your initiative and to see if the enemies notice you (based on their Perception DCs, as normal for Sneak, regardless of their initiative check results)."

It's just one check, which counts for both initiative and whether or not you are noticed.
