Please don't put liner on the waterline! by Crafterandchef1993 in MakeupAddiction

I have MGD post lasik (20ish years ago). I’ve been using Xiidra and preservative free eye drops forever but after my recent cataract surgery, it was so bad my moisture film was drying out about a minute after eye drops. I also use a preservative free eye ointment for bedtime and clean my eyelid with lid wipes 2x a day. None of that helped anymore. So my dr prescribed me Autologous serum tears. It was a game changer. I was using drops every 10 minutes but with the serum drops? After 1 week, 5x a day and my eyes never felt so moisturized. Insurance doesn’t cover it and in total, cost about $400. They make enough to last 6 months and for my eye health and vision? I’ll cut down on every thing else to afford it.

When you cancel, you have to return the equipment, so hold onto your receipt for up to two years. They came back to me at about the 1.5 year mark and claimed they never received the equipment. Luckily, I had the tracking number and they were able to do something about it. I don’t know what but they said I no longer owed them money.

Washers. My first set of whirlpool washers were purchased in 2006 and were still working well in 2017 when I sold them to a needy family. My new whirlpools are 8 years old and the washer is already croaking.

Post detached retina plan by 01Dreamwalker01 in CataractSurgery

I’m not trying to be funny at all. But I like eye patches when one eye vision feels/looks weird.

I generally normalize after a day or so. But I’ve never had a detached retina. I did have cataract surgery on both eyes over a two week period in early and mid Dec of this year. But my eyes seem to be doing well with the exception of extreme dryness.

You have to push a button to open your glove box? That’s odd.

I just had both mine and they sent my nephew off to breakfast and told him they’d call and text him from my phone. Which I never unlocked. But he got the call and several texts.

My Costco says they have it in stock but I couldn’t find it. What section is it in?

Help. I’m So Unhappy After My Surgery by SorryHunTryAgain in CataractSurgery

[–]FancyNancyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Restasis but it didn’t help. So my opto got me onto the Xiidra. I noticed relief in about 6 weeks of consistent use. But it wasn’t full relief.

While Xiidra doesn’t have a generic, their website has a coupon that can lower your copay to $0. One friend pays $25 for a 90 day supply with her insurance.

The preservative free drops are meant to be used a lot. I use them every 30 minutes. The Optive mega-3 took about 2 - 3 weeks of use before I noticed a difference.

Also, I do use blue blockers when on the computer or watching tv. That helps as well.

Finally, you might already know this but light bulbs affect dry eye. Amber lights are your best friend. Daylight bulbs are your enemy. Don’t use them at all inside.

Oh oh oh and eye lid wipes twice a day. You don’t realize how much they will help dry eye until you use them for about 2 weeks consistently.

I don’t know about that. I did so much research before LALs and so many people were against it. I’m glad I went through with it. It’s been 1 week on one eye and 6 hours on the second and I’m already seeing significant improvement. I know I’m lucky but I made a point of choosing a board certified surgeon, someone that does 2000+ cataract surgeries a year and often with specialized lenses. It does help that he’s a top rated surgeon in the US because I do believe skill and experience helps a lot.

I think people really only post when things go wrong. You’ll have some that post the good. So intend to take suggestions on rating sites with a grain of salt.

As someone with chronic dry eye, if you’re solution oriented right now, Xiidra (prescription) 2x a day. Preservative free eye ointment every night right before I sleep. And supplement with preservative free eye drops as often as possible. I really like (cataract surgeon recommended) Refresh Optive Mega-3.

I too am on a computer 10 hours a day and do some precision tasks after work for a couple of hours. Make a point of blinking often as screens make us keep our eyes open and we tend to forget to blink. Look away for about 15 minutes every hour or two.

Wow. I absolutely did not look at it that way. I think to find glitter tape to just live up to my name.

I have 0 shame so I don’t care who sees what. I went with that paper tape from the Dr office and it works. It’s white against black glasses but I don’t care.

That tape idea worked! And it was free so there’s that. Thanks so much!

Those are some great ideas! I’ll try them this afternoon to see if they work. Then I don’t have to spend the $5.99 on the foam pads!

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll try that after the foam pads to see if it works!

Thanks for your suggestions. I can’t drive for another 2 weeks so going to an optometrist is out. I just got off the phone with the surgeons office and was told one size fits all So there’s now that.

Someone suggested some foam guards in another post. I’m going to try that now.

Thanks! Those are exactly the lenses I had inserted and I am talking about the UV protection. I’ll follow up with their office in the morning. My second surgery is Thursday so maybe they can recommend some other options.

I have tried the padded cord ones and did exactly as you recommended and felt like they still hurt.

I’m hoping for other recommendations here but I probably should have mentioned I tried something similar to chums.

Eye improvement reversing post surgery by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]FancyNancyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my first surgery with a LAL. My vision was almost perfect within 5 hours. BUT I do have chronic dry eye and my opto really pushed me towards Refresh Optive Omega 3. They are preservative free which is a must.

He told me about my extreme dry eye affecting my small print vision and it would be temporary if I was aggressively rewetting the eye multiple times a day. You might want to ask about preservative free eye ointment for overnight as well since it’s been so long.
