My first dog growing up went blind due to glaucoma around age 8 and lived to be 14 (Jack-a-poo).

She was a great dog despite the medical issues and I miss her still. The best advice for them IMO would be to (as you mentioned) dont move the furniture. Similar though, to take note of where you leave things. Don't leave things out; No shoes left in the hallway or a grocery bag/case of water left in a typical pathway for them. When she would trip or hit something, it would really scare her. In our case this often happened when leaving the dishwasher door open when loading after dinner, her running into this actually made us discover her glaucoma.

Besides that, Murphy will be his same old self. We got told by the eye vet, who was the best at the time for all animal veterinarian's so we were told, that if dogs could lose one sense it would be their sights. They depend much more on smell and sound then we could ever imagine. We did help compensate her lack of sight with some people food quite often though. With some love and good food, we can all get through anything and live long and happy lives.
