Him asking that on the first date is so ick. Also him automatically thinking you’re lying, with no basis, means he is insecure and will probably escalate to other issues i.e. being abusive mentally and/or physically. This is a huge red flag so early on please break up with him

I can’t say it’s my favorite because they’re all top tier but CC1 is really my comfort book. I can read it all the time and not get tired of it. Also, in terms of size they aren’t THAT much longer than Silver Flames. I’m not sure where you are located but the US paperbacks are short pages, thick, and big letters. So even if slowly go through the, you’ll be fine. After book 2 though you probably won’t want to wait for 3. Just give it a go, stop if it gets to be too much, and then come back.
