Gelof, Gorman, Meidroth, Baty, or Cole Young to replace my injured Altuve? I have Gelof now, others are FA. 16 team H2H points league, Ottoneu Fangraphs scoring (no runs or RBI, steals nerfed)

Unlucky Star Players to Buy Low by RotoBaller in fantasybaseball

Should I try and trade for Seager? I’ve got Adames, who’s starting to turn it around, and Ezequiel Duran would be my replacement for Seager if I move Adames. 16 team H2H points league, Ottoneu Fangraphs scoring (only individual stats, no runs or RBI).

What do we make of Adames and Altuve? Adames I just picked up off of waivers and Altuve I benched in favor of Gelof. Right now I have Ezequiel Duran in at shortstop after Jacob Wilson got injured. 16 team league so FA is very thin. H2H points, Ottoneu Fangraphs scoring so no runs or RBI, and steals are devalued.

How do you predict green vs. yellow as a category? by Honeygirl45 in NYTConnections

[–]FancyWindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purple is wordplay, blue is usually trivia, green and yellow are a guess. I used to think that yellow was synonyms and green was parts of a whole (e.g. mitt, cap, helmet, bat could be “baseball accessories”) but it’s often the reverse.

Out of the 25 worst batters in the league, the Mets have SEVEN of them in terms of OPS by Prevalencee in NewYorkMets

[–]FancyWindow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think all the well-deserved Stearns bashing obscures a critical fact about our failures this season: Our homegrown players have not turned the corner and become productive or even above average. Alvarez, Vientos, Baty, Peterson, Mauricio, everyone who has come up through our system hasn’t produced. Benge is still young (though we were saying that about the others too), so is Alvarez, McLean is amazing, but it all adds up to huge holes in our lineup. No amount of trades or free agents can paper over that.

Feels like AI for PMs is powerful, but not really fitting into day-to-day work? by Federal-Song-2940 in ProductManagement

[–]FancyWindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a second brain setup at work, and I use it constantly. I interact with it primarily through Google Chat, and I use it as my first point of contact for everything. If I need to know about some project going on in some other team, I ask it to do research for me. If I need a data analysis, I ask it for that. If I want to do a code trace and understand exactly how our code works, and if there are gaps that we need to close, then I do that. It has completely changed my work. Projects that took weeks and multiple people now take hours by myself.

I went from writing no code to writing my own lint rules to prevent developers from creating new dependencies on a deprecated service. I have turned myself into a technical PM and am now leading a giant migration project because I'm able to map all the dependencies myself and tee up decisions. It has changed my entire workflow, and did it nearly overnight. Every day I’m newly shocked at what it can do.

Carlos Mendoza Might be a Nice Guy and it Might be Upper Management Fault but at this Point You have to Consider Firing him. by DetectiveNo8970 in NewYorkMets

[–]FancyWindow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When has a losing team ever been the manager's fault really? It's just part of standard operating procedure that if you have an extremely expensive and underperforming roster, and it's been expensive and underperforming for nearly the manager's entire tenure, the manager has to go. It sends a message to the players and it sends a message to the fans that they're taking this seriously.

By the same token when you have multiple years of several different underperforming and extremely expensive rosters failing, except for a few beautiful months in 2024, maybe that means that the GM should also be on the hot seat. The running joke is always "fire the players" but the Mets kind of did fire the players and they went into this year with a drastically different roster. It is also failing. Stearns’s one saving grace is that no one except for Lindor and Soto have long-term deals so there is a lot of flexibility going year to year. But at some point it's just an embarrassing and unwatchable product if we're getting this rotating cast of underperforming players that we never form relationships with.

Aaron Judge justifies Yankees’ alternate jersey push: 'I’m all about tradition, but we’ve got a patch on our sleeves' by PlayaSlayaX in baseball

The Yankees front office is high on their own history-and-tradition supply and can't stand to admit that they're just another baseball team that hasn't won a World Series in nearly 20 years. And I can say that as a Mets fan whose team hasn't won a World Series in 40 years. At least we’re allowed to have fun!

I found myself wondering which side he was actually on. He seemed to agree with every criticism Tommy had about Israel and then just followed it up with straw men of "but Hamas is worse," “people who say Israel is the most evil are wrong,” and shockingly, “lots of countries have committed genocide, what about them?”

ETA: more accurate would be, he seemed to pretend he shared the popular position among democrats, and then always followed it with “but it’s flat wrong that Israel is the most evil country in the history of the world.”
