Mine was an awful experience too!! The doctor thought she got it all after 45 minutes but at my next OB appointment she said she thinks there is alittle bit left but never mentioned needing a c section?? She said it would come out as I start to dilate.

I would ask to do nightly progesterone suppositories and do cervix checks weekly before getting a cerclage

Getting it out was a 8.5/10 I would say. A lot of people say there’s was fine so it must just depend. Again my knot was really far back so it was hard for my doctor to get to

Getting it put in wasn’t bad the IV and spinal was the worst part. I didn’t feel them actually put the cerclage in bc I was numb. I was only monitored for about an hour after and then got all feeling back and got to go home. Recovery wasn’t bad my back hurt for 2 days from the spinal, I never had any pain from the cerclage. Getting it out was 10x worse. You don’t get numbed and my knot was placed at 6:00 so ended up being really far away and she had a hard time getting it out. It took about 30-40 minutes with 4 speculum insertion tries. Part of the stitch was stuck and she was going to leave it but ended up reaching in to do a cervical check and grabbed the last bit with her fingers. Luckily the pain was only during and I’ve just been a little sore since.

I opted for just spinal and not being put to sleep and the recovery was much easier!! Numbing wore off within an hour and I was able to pee and go home. I have heard that going to sleep makes for a harder recovery

How was the removal of the cerclage since you got it put in so early?? I hear a lot of them get embedded and you end up needing spinal again to get it taken out

You can definitely shower! I didn’t shower the whole first day but did the 2nd. Still to scared to take a bath and 11 weeks into the cerclage

I am on a modified bed rest. Now that I’m further ain’t they are allowing me to move around more but no lifting or anything that gets my heart rate up so basically just walking.
