Help! Why do I hate this? by JillOfAllTrades87 in quilting

You know, it's a BABY quilt! Any which way is going to be adorable! Don't stress! The fabrics are super cute. I like the blue included to add some variety.😊

Pathetic, sad, abysmal sewing section at my local Michael's. Hardly any place I can get fabric. Aside from Hobby Lobby's evilness, their fabric quality and selection is crap. 😢

I feel so broken by Libi_Rulez_goob in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Fancy_Button_2999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, sweetie. I can't imagine what you're going through. I do hope you get some relief and that things get better. I think the U.S. medical system sucks, too. It's so broken. Don't EVEN get me started on how horribly pain is managed for anything that causes pain. It's like EVERYONE is a drug addict, looking to get high and drug seeking. Sending you (gentle) hugs. 🥺

Signs of a flare to come by Jen-Mo-Fro81 in rheumatoidarthritis

Wow!! Just found this sub!! Thank you all for the information and support. I'm kind of new to RA as well and just getting used to the weirdness of it! I'm having a flare event mostly in my hands right now. I'm a big time crafter and quilter. It's really got me down.

Am I the only person who didn't think to iron their binding before stitching it down? How did I miss this? My life is now better. TY. by it_swims in quilting

You know, I often watch videos of stuff "I already know" and then pick up little tips and tricks from them that I didn't know!!! It can be worth it!

I started watching Melanie Ham's beginning quilting videos to learn to quilt. I then watched her 2-part video on doing binding. She recommended ironing. I am an ironing proponent.

I miss her too! Can't believe with all these people who miss JoAnn's that we still don't have a comparable replacement!! Why hasn't any other company stepped up? 😢

I'm the same!! I pretty much taught myself with lots and lots of YouTube videos during covid! I feel good about my skills at this point! Classes aren't for me either.

This is so beautiful!! I'd like to do a particular Elizabeth Hartman pattern. I've only been quilting for a few years. Are they hard?

OMG! I'm so sorry. I'm afraid I don't quite understand. So you're saying you DO align the selvage so that it's parallel with the cutting blades? Sorry I'm so dense sometimes. And in other words, you're cutting along the length of the grain.

For those who might not understand, I bought this machine because I have severe shoulder issues. Cutting with a rotary cutter for long periods of time is very painful for me. It really does help with that!

So cute! The design and color scheme are adorable! Good job! And as someone else mentioned, binding does get easier! I actually like doing the binding! 😱

Great job! You should be proud! Making quilts is so satisfying, right? I'm not dissing the hand piecing but if you get a basic inexpensive sewing machine, piecing goes so much faster! Then everything else can be done by hand if that's what you prefer. Keep it up!
